That’s right, kiddies, clean your closets, scour that attics and dig deep in that dark, spider-webby corner of the garage: The White Elephant rides again!
With the [sub]somewhat[/sub] wild success of the inaugural White Elephant Swap and the coming close of summer [sub]in the top hemisphere, close of Winter for you bottom-worlders[/sub], it’s time to gather up that knick-knack, snag that what-zit and palm those "I’ll use it someday"s, toss 'em in a box, slap some tape around it and send it to your fellow Doper!
Last time we had 59 Dopers with 76% of them reporting a visit from an albino pachyderm and there were some folks that came in after the bell, only to be left with cobwebs and sorrow. Not this time, I say! This time, we’re gonna have over a hundred, better than 87% realization and no stragglers!
Since I’m a glutton for punishment, I’ll offer to administer this shebang again and use the same email add’y: ThinkSwap@hotmail.com (unless, of course, someone simply has too much time on their hands and wishes to occupy their every waking minute with this endeavor.) Those new to this sort of thing, send me your Doper-name, name-name and address where you can get big’ol packages of stuff.
Last time I used a cut-off time and date, this time, I’ll play it by ear, like when I make popcorn, and let’em keep applying until it looks like we’ve got them all, but not too long, so that the ones that got in first start to burn with elephantine anxiety. Figure the end of the month. Sound good?
One final note: those that were in the first one need not re-send their address and stuff, just pipe up with a “I’m in” and that’ll do it. Those that were in the first one and didn’t send anything yet (shame!) you can enter again, but, well, at the risk of being a meannie, I’ll not send your name out to anyone until I hear that your person got something from the first one.
