The fact that I didn’t see a thread, makes me think that I’m not the only one disappointed by this episode.
Man, that was dark. And not in a fun way.
I was hoping Chubby Kay would stick around. She’s a lot more interesting than some of the other characters. Plus, how can they let her just leave knowing their secret? I see another blackmail attempt in their future.
I didn’t get the feeling that she knew the secret. She knew bits of it, but remember when she asked Dahlia what the mural meant? I’m not sure she knows much of anything for sure. What I didn’t get, though, was how the hell did the subject of Jim being gay come up? It seemed so sudden, and I just don’t get how Chunky Kay knew that.
Also, if you thought that episode was dark, next week’s looks much darker.
I’m starting to get bored with them. I’m annoyed at the lack of continuity, and wondering if some network executive told them, “Hey – make all the episodes stand alone, so we can get more viewers!”
I have to admit that the most intriguing part is how the family deals with Sam.
It’s been hinted at, with Nina telling Wayne in an earlier episode that she and Jim hadn’t had sex in X number of years. It seems to be one of those secrets everybody knows about, and despite his best efforts, it was obvious even to somebody who had just met him.
Just chiming in to say that I really enjoy this show. I started watching it in the middle of my move from GA to CA, mostly because I had run out of CSI episides to download off of iTunes. I grabbed the first Riches episode and have been hooked ever since.
I will say that Eddie does a bad job of acting drunk, but that is the only thing bad that I can say about him.
I can’t recall the episode name (the one where he wakes up from a dream that he’d been pierced through the torso with a branch…then he has insomnia and ends up sleeping out on the sidewalk…then he takes a sauna with his boss while drinking Scotch or something) but I found myself distracted with the possibility that he was seriously ill with some sort of heart or reflux problem. The entire time he was stumbling around in the sauna, I was thinking “he’s about to have a heart attack”. I was so sure that it was jarring and unbelievable when it finally sunk in that he was apparently just supposed to be drunk.
