The Sap is Rising in the MMP!

Try baking soda and vinegar, FCM. Let the sciency stuff happen. Wait a bit, and then run hot water through it. But do not try that while you have Drano sitting in there.

Morning all. Need to put the donation to Purple Heart outside soon as I finish this message (big note in front of the keyboard helps) and then plan exercise for the morning/afternoon. I also need to contact a company I’ve worked with before on my 2023 Antarctica vacation (never too early to start planning something like that). And maybe do some house-irk…or not.

FCM, good luck with the Drano.

Taters, sounds like an exhausting trip…hope you’re getting compensated for the Sunday drive and hotel.

boo fae, enjoy dinner.

OK, need to bag up and put stuff out on the driveway. It’s really not that much, but I only let them come to pick up when I have enough of a pile to make it worth their while. All y’all have a good day (supposed to get into the 60’sF here).

Possibly/probably. But I didn’t buy them new.

I tried that before I bought the Drano - it didn’t do anything. I think I probably need a snake. ick.

It seemed to help a little, but I think I still need to snake. Hope we don’t have to call a plumber…

I just realized that Toby is 3 months old today. I’m trying to get him to nap. He’s been fed and changed, so he should crash. Theoretically. Meanwhile, I’ve started the bean soup.

I’m informed my kids have a half day Thursday, a day off Friday and a day off Monday. Seriously, I’m not sure that they ever go to school a full week. Ever. Oh, well - at least I get to sleep in Friday & Monday, at least 'til the sun is up.

I almost ate my contact this morning. I hadn’t properly made sure it’d schlooped to my eyeball, so it fell out of my eye into my oatmeal and I just caught the glint before I started stirring. I probably would’ve noticed at some point; I imagine it’d have been chewy.

Anyway, off to work. It’s usually not terribly eventful, but one of the ladies on my team just tried to take credit for some work I’d sent her Friday as informational. I’d chalk it up to an accident but she’s done it before. Glad I copied my boss on the original. Sometimes I hate corporate America, but I guess it’s a job. If she wants a promotion that bad maybe she should do her own work, dammit.

My buddy in high school had a WWII surplus Jeep that his father bought after the war. He built a wooden enclosure for it (“top” would be an inadequate description), which made it top-heavy. We had some good times in that thing, but pieces would occasionally fall off on rough roads.

Taters, with my Mauser at least I don’t have to worry about picky eating. “Chowhound” was invented just for him.

{ Shoe has entered the chat }

Regular day at work. I got a repair guy coming to look at my dryer this afternoon. Which means somebody is gonna lose his Skittles for several hours. I might need FCD’s shovel.

I need to do three things today:

  1. Clean the mudroom (a.k.a. the “rat room”) sweep mostly. Much sweeping.

  2. Send a pic to my landlady showing her a nice, clean, rodent-free mudroom.

  3. Go retrieve my ratties from the (unheated!) storage unit where I’ve been hiding them.

Why, no, I don’t generally play by other ppl’s rules. (Why do you ask?)

That being said … OMG I just do not wanna on #1 which is blocking the other tasks.

No.s 1 & 2 are finally now done, thanks to self-shaming in this thread.

Off to perform No. 3 (they’ll be happy to be warm again) and figure out some sort of dinner plan for me.

It was really close. When I popped open the can of gushy fud, GG got so excited that he started jumping up and down on his back legs and then dove right in when I put the bowl down on his mat. Poor lil guy didn’t know what to do when I put the kibble back down, he like to wore himself out running back and forth taking bites out of both bowls.

We should be able to bring VBC home around 5, she is probably going to be missing a fang poor lil girl. Hopefully we won’t need to keep GG away from her, he misses her already and its only been 4 hours.

I’ve registered for the seminar but I can’t figure out how to sign up for the class. I’ve got a call in, hopefully that will get straightened out today. Mom is waiting for me to sign up so she will know my schedule before signing up for classes herself.

The electrician came today and put in six new smoke/CO detectors and changed out the dining room light fixture. The bill was $640 for an hour’s work plus parts. This is something that I would have done myself in years past. I guess it’s no big deal, considering all the money I’ve saved us on many, many projects in our homes.

He is, after all, the cat version of a teenage boy. Stomach with feet.

Just discovered that the collision notification and Emergency button on my Nissan will cease working by the end of the month. No upgrade possible. The problem is that they work on 3G, which is going bye-bye. Check your cars, Mumpers! Some have software upgrades available.

The mental image/video gave me the giggles.

Never mind.
Dispo friend with a hot tub (and 7 cats) just texted asking if I’m off work today. You betcher sweet bippy I’m off to hang - we need our friends, yanno. (And after last week, my back could use a hot soak.)

29 F out there so it’ll be a swift run between tub and house. Exhilarating!

I’ll swing by and pick up ratties on my way home. They’re nocturnal - all asleep now anyways.

We’ve always been DIYers, but of late, we’ve turned to the pros more and more often. Our mower goes to Amish Dave for service, we had our new water heater installed instead of doing it ourselves, we have a guy clean our gutters, we hired painters to do the inside of the house, and now that we’ve got a boat again, we intend to pay someone younger and less creaky to paint the bottom for us. We could have managed most of that ourselves - I’d already painting the entire inside of the house myself - but none of these projects would have been done as quickly had we done them ourselves, plus we’d have been achy… Yep, there comes a point where the best tool for the job is VISA (or the checkbook.)

Toby is back with his mama. Peace reigneth at last!! Bean soup for supper. Life is good.

Remind me not to go to the kitchen this time of day. The angle the sun’s coming in the window makes it look like I haven’t cleaned my stove in weeks. I swear I did last night. The light is picking out every speck of dust.

shoe Enjoy the hot h2o.

Of all the ridiculous things to have stuck in my head for the past 2 days. Bilbo by Leonard Nemoy. I’d advise not clicking that.

I’m a bit like Mooooooom in that I text far more often than have a voice convo by phone. My dad and one sister are about the only two people who I actually talk to by choice.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. In a couple of minutes, I’ll wake up the reddish dog in my lap and do KP.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
