"The Sarah Connor Chronicles" season 2 starts tonight (9/5)

I thought they were implying that John watched his mom get raped. That’s why I was sort of forgiving his pathetic emo bullshit. But if he just killed the guy and he’s being all emo, I hope Cameron finishes his whiny ass.

Otto, Pleonast Thanks for the info. I didn’t even realize my machine had copied the damn thing until it was too late to watch it in its entirety, so I still haven’t gotten to the part you guys are talking about. I’m glad to hear they were able to fix her – she’s a very nice part of the scenery.

So you think that killing another human being ISN’T something that should actually like have an effect on someone?

I didnt get any impression of a rape (happened or was about to happen) - what definitely did happen was that him and his mom got caught completely off gaurd and his mom was about tp perish - a defeat that so far had never happened.

I’m also guessing it was his first “human” kill. I didn’t see any real emo in the scene where the terminator walks into the room, simply recovering from the moment… The other ‘emo’ bits aftewards dealt with his Terminator turning on him - EVERYTHING that could go wrong on his birthday DID.

I don’t think that John watched Sarah being raped. I don’t doubt that was the guy’s intention but I don’t think he had time to do the deed.

Fair enough. Though I wasn’t really expecting anything that deep from this show. Maybe quickly glossing over how it wasn’t fun taking a life, but I’d do it again in that situation type deal.

Seems odd that they didn’t show lil John taking him down though.

Anyway, glad you guys cleared up that she probably wasn’t raped.

Can someone recap what happened after Summer Glau turned good again? i missed the ending of the show.

Cameron (Summer) told Sarah that John should never try to reactivate her again. John cuts his hair really short and Shirley Manson’s character is revealed to be a T-1000 and kills the head of the A.I. division of the company she runs.

I don’t know if it means anything, but as I recall, last season he was credited as a regular, but for this episode he was credited as a guest star. Sort of a flip flop with Brian Austin Green who was a guest star last year, but is now a regular.

I really didn’t like CEO lady, but did get chills (in a good way!) when she revealed herself as a T1000 (or similar model, I guess it’s not a given she’s the same exact type as in T2). Won’t people wonder who killed AI guy, though?

John’s wig was horrible, by the way. Clearly the actor cut his hair between seasons and they didn’t have much choice for continuity’s sake, but come on, that thing looked phonier than a three dollar bill. At least it’s gone now.

OK, I’ve now seen the whole thing, and I’ m even starting to remember some of the stuff from last season. The one thing I can’t remember anything about is that tape or box or something that was destroyed. Would somebody be so kind as to inform me what the hell it is/was?

It was a hard drive taken from the bomber guy’s computer. They were going to look through it for info on the whereabouts of the Turk (chess A.I.).

My daughter was in the process of blowing up the next room - what happened? I saw John and Sarah ziptied in a room. Cameron kills the guy downstairs, and the next thing I see, John and Sarah are loose from their zipties and ugly-mcBlobNose is dead.

Did I miss something?

Ah, now I remember. Thanks.

I think this is something the writers did extremely well. It is human nature to be suspicious of Cameron, because humans are naturally going to be suspicious of other humans that have demonstrated betrayal.

However, John believes he understands machines and if Cameron did not shoot him when given the chance, John has full faith that she does not intend to ever terminate him. To me, the interesting twist is Shirley Manson’s comment about how rare it is to have a machine that occasionally crosses the street against the light. In other words, true artificial intelligence isn’t deterministic and will exhibit behavior that would be hard to distinguish from free will.

Cameron has already exhibited some “human” behaviors such as writing a letter to a deceased human, learning ballet, etc. which are thus far unexplained.

As for John being able to repair the chip, it is certainly possible to have minor and superficial damage to a contact lead that causes a bad connection and occasional glitching. Dusting it off or carefully cleaning blood from the lead would correct such damage. The artistic license here is that Cameron’s chip apparently has a dedicated “John Connor termination override” bit. It would have been more convincing if Cameron’s motor skills and decision making were glitchy, too. Or if she froze up at random intervals for no discernable reasons during her rampage.

No, nothing was shown. You saw John sawing away at his bonds and watching Sarah get the shit kicked out of her. I also got a vaguely sexual-assault feel from it, but there was nothing explicitly obvious. Maybe it was just the way the bad guy looked like he was gettinf some pleasure out of beating her.

Next thing we see is John and Sarah kneeling over the body of the bad guy. Presumably John got free and killed him, but it’s not made clear.

I liked the premiere. Continuity flaws, sure, as much as last season. Like, it takes her 2 minutes to recover from a small electrical jolt, but only 10 seconds to wake up from having her chip pulled? But I can suspend my disbelief and go with it. Thomas Dekker has certainly improved his acting skills since last season, that’s for sure.

While I loved the showcasing of the Shirley Manson song in the beginning scene, the crappy dramatic slow-mo direction went on way too long and was a completely amateurish way to kick off an action series.

It got much better after that though. Shirleynator? Termansonite? Garbage Compactor? We need a nickname for her!

Well, they ended the last season in a similar way, so I can’t complain too much. It did go on for too long, however.

What I want to know is how they got taken so completely by surprise. That entire family (where was Derek, anyways) has a first-line reaction of “grab your gun, then see what’s up”. Russian McBlogNose should have had his insides painted across the front porch the moment he tried to come in through the door.

I couldn’t help wondering how long the Shirley Manson terminator had lain in wait in the men’s room, disguised as a urinal. Now, that’s dedication.

Dedication, or perhaps the robot has developed ahem a fetish?

Going by the evolution of Summer Glau -> Glauminator -> Cameron, most likely the board will settle on her character’s name of Catherine Weaver.
