Clearly there is a reoccuring theme of “when does a machine become ‘human?’” that goes back to Terminator 2 with John Conner teaching the T-800 to say “Hasta la vista baby” before taking someone out. That seemed to be the point of the Garbage-2000’s speech about how people appear behave in an orderly, predictable manner from 40 stories up, but then every once and awhile one will just dart accross the street.
Anyhow, the first season was ok, but it’s really gotten a lot better with this episode and the last few episodes of season 1.
Yah, it’s interesting insofar as it shows Cameron has a much higher level of empathy than you’d expect of a budget-model kill-bot. By observing, presumably, the same cues a human would (body language, behavior, etc), she’s concluded that John is attracted to her, and she knows enough about human psychology to know that’s a powerful lever. Basic stuff, but a heck of a lot more than a bloodhound with opposable digits and more firepower than a small country. And she comes up with a plan to use it, on the fly.
She’s also known John for at least some good time in the future - and it’s possible that Cameron stayed with John from the time of ‘now’ to ‘then’, and then tripped back to ‘now’. She may very likely be another time loop.
I doubt they had a bible for how time travel, paradoxes, and time loops work in the Terminator universe, but I wish they did.

I missed the first episode (and possibly the second by now?). Fox has it online, but apparently they want to install some sort of software on my computer in order for me to watch it. I don’t trust Rupert Murdoch with my hard drive. Does anyone else know anything about that software, or if there’s another way to watch it? Are they going to rerun it?
Why wouldn’t you trust it? It’s a tiny Flash app that allows you to view video at Fox.com, it’s harmless.
…and Skynet is born!
