The SDMB "He Hate Me, He Hate Me Not" Football League

scratch that 198 and make it 238 players picked. This is going to last a while, we need to move quickly.

Yahoo sets it at 2 minutes. One person (Shibb) looks to go on computer control, so that’ll cut down on time. As long as everyone stalls a bit in the first round to help me get to a computer, I can crank picks out like a mofo.

But yeah, this is going to last a while. Which is fine, it’s the best single part of the season.

I’m pretty sure it’s actually 90 seconds. And it’s not customizable. Next year’s draft order… eh. I do want to point out, though, that we’re better off choosing that sooner than later because once some games have gone by teams will have a vested interest in having it one way or the other. Fairer to set all the groundrules ahead of time.

i think its 2 mins per pick actuallyh. if it was customizable i vote for the shortest amount of time possible. i’ve got a class i got to get to after!

"You can also set up a draft queue for yourself. This list of players, which supercedes both pre and default rankings, will be used to make a selection if you do not draft a player during your allotted 90 seconds.

To draft a player, select a name from the list on the left-hand side of the screen. The chosen name will appear in the draft box and the player will join your team when you click on the Draft button. You have 90 seconds to select a player. If you do not draft within the allotted time, the computer will automatically give you a player based on your queued list, pre-rankings or our default ratings if you have not queued players or submitted your own rankings list. See the Autopick Draft Details section for more information. Once you click the Draft button, you cannot “undraft” a player, even if there is time left in your allotted 90 second selection period. "

yadda yadda yadda, who really cares anyway…

About being right? Just me I guess.

Congrats on 100 posts. All in football threads heh.

Ugh.

I grade my team a D. After all the mocks and research and other drafts I’ve done, I friggin’ picked up Culpepper in the 2nd round. I still feel sick over that. He’ll put up the points, but so would have Warner in the 5th round. Bleargh.

I hear you, Munch. I picked Gannon in 4, and there were still great QBs left in round 6 (Favre, Brooks). And Tom Brady in round 8 was a steal too. Could have had Toomer or Driver or Price.

Well, my trade today completely changes things around for me. I’m not handcuffed at RB with the addition of Lewis, and my WRs are upgraded with Brown. Love the trade.

Also, I have a lot of backup RBs. I’d be willing to entertain some WR upgrades if anyone wants to back up their backs (Alexander, Holmes, Martin).

is it just me or does no one else know what munch is talking about

My take on the draft, not that anyone asked:

Lindell, Rian (K-Buf)
Johnson, Bryant (WR-Ari)
Westbrook, Brian (RB-Phi)
Blake, Jeff (QB-Ari)
As much as we “holy shit”'ed at the autopicks last night, this team is not that bad. He has 2 starting RBs, maybe 3, depending on what happens in New England. Given, he is thin at WR after Hines.

I would love this team if we could keep more than 3. Porter, Vick, Buck, Foster, Morgan….a slew of young talent. For this year, He’ll do well but probably narrowly miss playoffs.

I think that he gets Brady for Crump, if memory Serves. No Glaring weaknesses here. Definate playoff potential.

Morton, Johnnie (WR-KC)
San Diego (DEF-SD)
St. Louis (DEF-StL)
Edinger, Paul (K-Chi)
Clark, Desmond (TE-Chi)_

A lot of gambling going on here. If Osmith pans out (I think he will) then this team is looking really tough. But, the possiblity existst between Pittman, Osmith, and Shipp that none may be starters this year. Season over if that happens.

**WLs Red Sox **

Alexander, Shaun (RB-Sea)_

**Baltimore Weirdos **

James, Edgerrin (RB-Ind)
Garcia, Jeff (QB-SF)_
Heap, Todd (TE-Bal)
Toomer, Amani (WR-NYG)

Thrash, James (WR-Phi)

Riemersma, Jay (TE-Pit)
Bryson, ShawnNA (RB-Det)
Stokley, Brandon (WR-Ind)
Cleveland (DEF-Cle)
Chandler, Jeff (K-SF)
Hymes, Randy (WR-Bal)

Way to think at RB for my liking. Only 3 dafted, one likely will not play at all, and one will likely see limited action. Solid elsewhere, but not enough to overcome the hole at RB.
Grade: C

**Munch **

Henry, Travis (RB-Buf)
Culpepper, Daunte (QB-Min)
Shockey, Jeremy (TE-NYG)_
Barlow, Kevan (RB-SF)
Johnson, Keyshawn (WR-TB)
Duckett, T.J. (RB-Atl)_
Lelie, Ashley (WR-Den)_

Bennett, Drew (WR-Ten)
Wilkins, Jeff (K-StL)
Thompson, Derrius (WR-Mia)
Johnson, Larry (RB-KC)
Caldwell, Reche (WR-SD)
Morris, Maurice (RB-Sea)

Solid picks through and through but only having one RB after 3 rounds (esp in a 14 teamer) puts you in a hole that is hard to get out of. Barlow makes a capable starter to pair w/ Henry, Your success may hinge on what % of the time he sees in SF.

**RubberNippleSalesmen **

Green, Ahman (RB-GB)
Moss, Randy (WR-Min)_
Stewart, James (RB-Det)_

Watson, Kenny (RB-Was)
Stewart, Kordell (QB-Chi)
Alexander, Stephen (TE-SD)_
Nedney, Joe (K-Ten)
Brady, Kyle (TE-Jac)
Shaw, Bobby (WR-Buf)

I was really kicking myself taking Moss at 19 when Wm Green and FredT were still avail, but somehow I lucked out getting 2 starters and another nearly fulltime RB. I’m pretty happy with this team, If I want to move on to postseason I need for Booker not to flop. Love getting Warner in round 5.

Barber, Tiki (RB-NYG)_

Chrebet, Wayne (WR-NYJ)

Reed, Jeff (K-Pit)
McCaffrey, Ed (WR-Den)
Smith, Steve (WR-Car)
Terrell, David (WR-Chi)
White, Jamel (RB-Cle)
Couch, Tim (QB-Cle)_

Solid Strategy grabbing 3 unquestioned starting RBs out of the gate. I think Franks in rd 4 was a bit of a reach, you could have gotten him (or an equal TE) a round or two later and improved your WRs. Same thought on Brad Johnson. He’s decent but you may overpaid to get him.

**Steel Reign **

Owens, Terrell (WR-SF)_

Becht, Anthony (TE-NYJ)
Kennison, Eddie (WR-KC)
Denver (DEF-Den)
Pathon, Jerome (WR-NO)_
Bennett, MichaelNA (RB-Min)_
Kasay, John (K-Car)

Another solid team at QB/WR/TE but a RB disaster. Three drafted, one is gone for the year, and the other two are mediocre at best. Also, others may disagree but I never see the point of drafting two kickers.

Grade: C-

**Kung Fu Fighters **
Harrison, Marvin (WR-Ind)_

Ricks, MikhaelNA (TE-Det)
Hollis, Mike (K-NYG)
Gordon, Lamar (RB-StL)
Davenport, Najeh (RB-GB)
Dallas (DEF-Dal)

If Duce woks his way to the front of the line in Philly, I like this team a lot. Should see the postseason

Fourth and 19
Dillon, Corey (RB-Cin)_
Lewis, Jamal (RB-Bal)
Holt, Torry (WR-StL)

New York (DEF-NYG)
Stover, Matt (K-Bal)
Northcutt, Dennis (WR-Cle)_
Graham, Daniel (TE-NE)
Fuamatu-Ma’afala, Chris (RB-Pit

Another solid team. Hearst in round 7 is a great pick, he’ll put up enough points to warrant a starting spot on your other two RBs bye weeks. Also Likely postseason bound.

So, you’re saying that I should just quit now, mouthbreather?

Nobody asked you.

b/m on the munch comment, trade finally showed up. fourth and nineteen is getting creamed on it, lol

hahaha ouch.

n/m on the munch comment, trade finally showed up. fourth and nineteen is getting creamed on it, lol

Quite the contrary, I hope you don’t.
A lot of FF is subjective…if you’re happy with your team, then cool. Don’t worry about what I think.

Okay, I’m now officially worried about NurseCarmen and furt.

I’ve sent them an e-mail, to let them know we drafted last night. If we don’t get a response, we may have to recruit two new members, delete the league, and start a new one. We’ll keep the same rosters, of course - I’ll just have to manually enter them.

The only problem is that I may be at the maximum number of Yahoo football leagues. New account, here I come!

OK, I was just wondering why I got the worst grade in your report. I didn’t participate in the endless drafts over the summer; I should have realized that every move in this league will be scrutinized, analyzed, and commented upon- favorably or unfavorably. When everyone was making comments at the draft about how well everyone else picked, and no one mentioned any picks I made- that was my first clue.

I apologize for my tone in the previous comment.

can you change their rosters? dont drop people, just have it so none of them start. then they will act as bye weeks.

make the season 13 weeks so everyone plays everyone else once and it’ll be fine.

then just make 14/15 or 14/15/16 playoffs

Yes, I do admit I’m a bit think at RB, but I don’t think it’s as bad as all that, James should be a stud again, 2 years out from surgery, and Moe is the starting RB in Minnesota, at least for the moment, and usually gets the call for the goaline plunges in any event. I picked up Bryson as “backup to the RB most likely to get injured and thus get some playing time”. He’s now listed as NA, yet I can find nothing about him being cut in the Detroit Free Press or on the Lions webpage, what’s up with that?
