I think Rhino has the team to beat and mostly because (and i’m being completely serious here) he picked up emmitt in the 7th.
you made me grad kevin faulk instead… bleh =P

Steelerphan, for the record, I didn’t know you were at the draft. I think everyone was just commenting on the picks of the people active in the chat. No offense was intended, I’m sure.
Dave, Moe has been named as the starter for the Packers game, but because Tice said he doesn’t want to name a rookie as the starter in his very first game, especially if that game is at Lambeau. He said he’ll be worked in that first game, and will get the starting nod after that. (But Moe should still be getting all the goalline touches). I like the pick.
I did another search, and it looks like furt was last active on the 24th - not too far past. Odd he hasn’t checked into this thread at all. I wonder if he mixed up which league he’s in.
“Yes, I do admit I’m a bit think at RB”
ha, jackass.
AFAIK Bryson is still in Detroit… He was on Aug 23rd, and I’ve heard nothing that would indicate otherwise.
Also, No hard feelings at all, Steelerphan.
btw - 4 is the number of maximum yahoo leagues
Hee hee. Wanna know what’s really funny? I noticed your typo and then disreguarded it, it was obvious what you meant, and then I went and made the same typo myself without intending to.
Munch I don’t really understand the hoopla about ‘deadbeat’ players. Happens all the time, 2 out of 14 is a great success rate. Why bother messing around with them, or emptying their starting rosters or whatever? The computer drafted them, let them stay as is. Any players that don’t come back for next year will need to be replaced, including those if necessary. What’s wrong with that?
I’m definitely against clearing their starting rosters. If we keep them on, it’s still another team to beat, however easy. The Bengals managed to pull off a win last year against the Saints. No reason a deadbeat* team can’t do the same (preferably to WL or Hamlet).
*Not to say these are deadbeat teams yet. We just haven’t heard from them.
Another thought…if those two dont show up, and we have two dead teams…put ALL those players in the draft pool next year and reduce our league size to 12.
Could work. Would totally screw whoever was drafting like 8th to 12th though. Like whoever drafts first gets Priest Holmes, and everyone at the end of the line is taking guys like Curtis Conway and Keenan Mccardell.
I see that drafting 12th, it would have been better to just go with the Yahoo picks than my own choices.
Are there realy two no-shows? That sucks.
I’m going to be watching the injury reports very closely…
I’m sure we could find a couple other Dopers to manage these teams if the owners can’t be bothered. It’s not a money league, and, despite an enjoyable level of trash talking, there’s no hard feelings. If we don’t here from the two, just post a thread and get another couple Dopers to manage them for the year. It shouldn’t be too hard to find someone who will be willing to do it.
Also, I’ll have a bit of time manana to look over the teams, and I’ll try and give another perspective. Despite a major weakness in the running back position, I really like the rest of Steelerphan’s team.
Oh, and I almost forgot:
YOU WILL ALL BOW BEFORE THE RIGHTEOUS ANGER OF HAMLET’S EVILDOERS. YOU STAND NO CHANCE!!!
Easier said than done H, the teams are bound to the yahoo accounts used to create them, there’s not really any way for Munch to transfer ownership.
I’m also planning to do the definitive draft analysis.
And I have 2 words for you Hamlet: Chad Johnson. Oh, one more: Revenge.
And anyway I don’t think we’ll end up having to replace them both, NurseCarmen’s pretty active but I remember that he’d lapse for a day or two back in the mock days too. Don’t know much about the other one. When was Shibb saying he’d be back?
i dunno what to do about them either for next year, but putting them back in the pool is no good. the top few picks will get studs that would have been obvious keepers.
you are SUCH a copy cat.
I don’t even know what you’re talking about.
But as long as we’re talking about copycat, you just posted to say exactly what I had just said 4 posts ago. So HA!
fine, thats the last time i agree with you!
and i am referring to the “two words… one more word” copy.
Did I steal that from you? Ha. Sorry, I had no idea. Was that on here or from somewhere else? I guess it was just so good that I had to use it myself heh.
two words: Shut Up one word: booger
Good times.
Just wanted to toss in a vote for the symmetry of the 8 team playoff. I see that it was changed in teh league, but if it’s still up for the vote thats mine. I don’t mind having alot of playoff teams in a non-money league. However if the concensus says otherwise, I have no problem with it.
I’l going to jump in with a commentary too, and probably peeve off half of you in the process
Regarding the possibility of absentee players, I think its a solid idea to look for replacements before the season starts. Will be a pain in the ass for whoever has to set the rosters up, but considering how many fantasy football players there are on these boards i’d prefer that to just having 2 teams on autopilot. Plus the complications with the keeper league on top of that.
Thanks for the compliment on my drafting, mouthbreather! I"m not so sure I’d give myself that high a grade, maybe B- or C+. Gannon was stupid, Wheatley was way early.
No comments on Munch’s and my trade?
Shockey - Barlow - Drew Bennett - from Munch
Jamal Lewis - Troy Brown - Graham - from Wilson.
I hate to give up a top 12 RB, but since I already have Hearst, getting Barlow just fits. Dillon plus the SF RBs should be quite good at RB.
It hurts to give up Brown, but I really wanted Shockey. I would have picked him at the end of round 3 if he had lasted.
It’s a HUGE upgrade at TE for me, a slight(?) downgrade at RB, and a downgrade at WR. I’ve still got Holt and DJackson at WR, and I figure one of Josh Reed or Jevan Walker should pan out. And Dennis Northcutt’s not a bad fall back.
For Munch, he now has a top 3 QB, and two top 12 RBs. That’s impressive. But he’s got no TE of note, and his WRs still aren’t top notch. Of course, if Graham pans out or he finds another TE who performs, the trade looks much better from his end.
I thought about asking for Lelie instead of Bennett, but I didn’t think Munch would bite.
I’m not going to do a full analysis, but two teams I do like are WL’s and Third Ward Soljas (is that bababooey?). Despite Third Ward’s lagging problems, he’s got good starters everywhere but TE.
Open/dead teams - of course, I’m hoping both of them show up, but… did both of them set their rosters to commissioner control? If so, one thing we could do is work out an arrangement where the league owners who are not playing one of the dead teams each week vote on the starting roster for those teams. This would at least keep us out of those stupid situation where a dead team is starting several players on their bye week. For this to really work, we may have to find The Fighting Quakers another quarterback…
