So I’m at the grocery store salad bar, trying to put something together for dinner. A little of this, a little of that. (The market where I shop has an outstanding salad bar.) This is what I ended up with:
[ul]
[li]Some leaf-lettuce mix[/li][li]Some iceberg lettuce mix[/li][li]Some spring mix (different herbs n’ stuff)[/li][li]Some crabmeat (it’s real; this is one of the reasons the salad bar is awesome)[/li][li]Some bacon bits[/li][li]Some blue cheese[/li][/ul]
Topped nicely with Italian dressing.
This is the question. What do you guys like in salad?
Lettuce (I don’t care what kind, but it damn well better be bite sized . . . I hate newspaper-sized pieces of lettuce that must be cut), cheese, and Ranch dressing, on the side.
MMmmmm, I LOVE salads: [ul]
[li]Various greens: iceberg lettuce, romaine, raddichio (?sp) etc[/li][li]corn[/li][li]kidney beans[/li][li]grated chedder cheese[/li][li]black olives[/li][li]fresh mushrooms[/li][li]alfafa sprouts[/li][li]chic peas[/li][li]cucumber[/li][li]topped with a nice Italian vinegarette[/li]Ohh, and garlic croutons [/ul]
Lettuce, Raisins, Cheddar Cheese, real bacon , home made croutons and Thousand Island dressing (note I usually don’t get that ambitious, most of the time it is plain lettuce with a pepper cut into it)
The DW special:
[ul]
[li]Boston lettuce[/li][li]Thinly sliced cucumbers. A little salt as they sit in a seperate bowl while preparing everything else.[/li][li]Chopped red cabbage[/li][li]some shredded carrots[/li][li]some chopped red onion[/li][li]REAL bacon bits - home cooked, not store bought[/li][li]crumble up some Snyder’s Garlic Nibblers pretzels[/li][/ul]
A little oil, a little red wine vinegar…mmmm.
[ul]
[li]Iceberg lettuce[/li][li]Chopped up tomato[/li][li]Fake bacon bits[/li][li]Carrot[/li][li]Cheese[/li][li]Hard-boiled egg, but not yolk[/li][li]Croutons, on the side[/li][li]Red wine vinegar & olive oil[/li][/ul]
Iceberg Lettuce
Black Olives
Green Olives
Chick Peas
Cheese
Bacon Bits and/or Croutons and/or Nuts
Fat Free Ranch or Creamy Italian depending on my mood.
