Judging by the video most of the kinetic energy did come from her lunge, rather than him swinging his fist. It was a weak jab, left-handed, as she lunged into him.

Thanks for that. First time I’ve seen it. I think that changes a lot. That means HE started the fight, and her slapping him was a natural reaction to being spat on. The only think I’m not sure I agree with is that the article calls it a “knockout punch”, but later says she hit her head on the railing inside the elevator. It seems much more likely that the punch merely made her fall backwards, and the subsequent blow to the head knocked her unconscious. Not that he doesn’t bear responsibility for that, of course - but I’m having a hard time believing that he formed the intent to deliver a punch that would knock her out, as so many people seem to believe. He probably was just reacting to the situation, albeit a situation that it now appears he may have brought on himself.

OK, I’m out. I hadn’t seen this article before. If the OP had linked this article and pointed out that The Second Stone’s account doesn’t seem to match it, I wouldn’t have questioned why The Second Stone was being Pitted. My only question was about why The Second Stone was singled out since other people had also defended Ray Rice. I don’t have enough information to really give an informed opinion about the whole Ray Rice incident. I just saw the video and saw people interpreting from that.

That said, I did a 2 second search for articles after I saw this article and found a bit of conflicting information, IMO. From CNN:

However, The Associated Press reported Tuesday that the news organization has viewed a longer, “higher-quality” video with audio given to it by an anonymous source that shows the couple yelling obscenities at each other in the elevator.

In the video AP viewed, she spits on him, and he punches her, the story said.

“Rice made no attempt to cover up the incident,” the AP reported.

After Janay Rice collapses, Ray Rice appears to pull her out of the elevator and is met by hotel staff, according to the AP.

One of the staffers can be heard saying, “She’s drunk, right?” and then, “No cops.”

Look at what happens at :25 of the video. He makes a motion toward her while he’s got her pushed up against the wall in the elevator and her head jerks to the side. He appears to have swatted or spit at her. She then swats at him with one arm while still clutching her purse. He then knocks her out. For you to continue to defend this behavior in light of actual video evidence does in fact make you a rather shitty person. Or a troll.

And your inability to grasp basic logic and reading comprehension makes me wonder how you could actually be an attorney.
