Bernie is getting better. When we first got up, I was afraid she was not going to make it thru the weekend, but after lunch, I was much relieved to see her improved. We took her outside and she started walking around - she’d walk a little, then lie down in the sun, then get up… Anyway, she managed to pee and poo between walks and rests. And every time she got up to walk, she was just a little steadier. I’m glad.
Oh and on our errands, we managed to come home with this little girl. She went under my bed and has stayed there. But according to her foster mom, she’s very social and playful. So here’s hoping she chills soon. She will be getting a new name.
The weather was wonderfully mild today, and tomorrow is supposed to be warmer, so we’ll wash our disgusting dirty cars. And I’ve got a little more laundry to do.
Sorry you’ve been sick, Taters. I was wondering where you’d disappeared to. Here, have some ginger ale.
Pretty kitty, FCM. And not terribly original name, of course. How old is she? And did your to-do list include “acquire kitty” or was it accidental?
Mmmmm, Reuben Hash sounds yummy.
Went to the thrift store and found some sweaters. A couple are going to be unraveled and knit into something different. A couple were pretty, good quality, almost never worn. For $3.49, I wasn’t about to say “no.” (I keep finding myself short of sweaters, but didn’t really want to buy any new ones just yet.)
Also went to the Pepperidge Farm outlet and bought bread, fruit turnovers, frozen garlic bread and some crackers. I got 20% off for having bought more than $10, so that was nice, too. Paid just over $10 for the whole shebang.
Really need to clean the kitchen, do laundry, and do some other general cleaning. I’ll report back with progress, if it happens.
MOOOOOOM are you plannin’ on becomin’ a crazy cat lady?
We had steak and sallit for dindin. With cheese bread. I didn’t do the N.O.T..
It has occured to me that I have not come forth with the bleu cheese grapes recipe. I dug it out of my recipe drawer. What? It’s a little drawer in a Hoosier cabinet full of recipes.
So…
Blue Cheese Grapes
1/2 cup shelled pecans
3/4 (6 ounce) package cream cheese, at room temp
4 ounces bleu cheese
12 ounces seedless grapes, stemmed, rinsed and dried.
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Place nuts on baking sheet. Bake, stirring once or twice, 8-10 minutes until lightly toasted. Let cool. Don’t touch ‘em til they’re cool. You’ll burn your fingers!
In a food processor, pulse nuts, until just finely chopped (don’t over process). Place in bowl. Yes, I did <snerk> when I read “pulse nuts”. Big surprise huh!
Remove blade; wipe processor bowl clean. Add cheeses; process until blended and smooth. Scrape into a medium bowl.
Line rimmed baking sheet with wax paper. Gently fold grapes into cheese mixture. Remove one coated grape at a time with a spoon, then push grape gently into the bowl of chopped nuts. Shake bowl to turn grapes until coated. Place on lined baking sheet. Shake yer booty while shakin’ the bowl. Put on some music. Don’t do this in front of the window or the neighbors will talk. Shoot. Leave off the bakin’ sheet thing too. Just pile ‘em right on the plate. Throw caution to the wind! Laugh at fate! You are wild and abandoned, a free spirit! Or, maybe don’t. They do need to set up a bit.
To serve: Arrange grapes on a plate to resemble a bunch of grapes. Yeah, right. Heck, pile ‘em up on a plate. Nobody will appreciate or even notice all that work cause they’ll be too busy shovin’ grapes down their throats.
Yay for Bernie, and yay for new kitty! She’s really pretty (though of course my kitty is the prettiest anywhere, because if I even thought anything else she would be pissed at me and the last thing I want is a pissed Siamese)!
Blurf. It’s not morning, but blurf anyway. I left work early because of a migraine coming on. It’s backed off for the moment after an hour or so in bed but I’m still pretty fuzzy-headed.
blurf
I was queen of sluggsville today
I believe I may be tomorrow as well
oh, and although your new ktty is pretty, FCM, no kitty is prettier than mine (and that includes yours, snowbunny)
I hate to interrupt all this cute kitty stuff and fantastic sounding appetizer stuff.
I need a hug. Not a nudge, nudge, wink wink kind of hug, but a HUG from some kind people whom I like.
It just hit me that TH is out of work. His last day was yesterday. He got an aluminum foil parachute, for which we are very grateful. We are still of one mind re divorce, it’s just the timing of it–and really, is it wise to do so unemployed? I don’t know. I am just so tired. I’m scared.
I know you all are probably sick of all this shit–I know I am. It will happen and I will be ok, longterm. But damn, it’s hard to keep that smile on my face when I want to primal scream forever.
Sorry to mess with the MMP. Back to your regularly scheduled posts.
You know you can vent and ask for hugs as much as you want, right? I’m sorry this year has been awful for you so far, we all care about you, and we’re not bored or sick of you. more ((((rigs))))).
The hash sounds really interesting. I’ve been re-reading Eat Me, which is why we ate chili enchiladas for dinner.
We’ve had a quiet day. It’s been nice. I think Nat might be feverish, either from teething or from what I had earlier this week, so he’s drugged and in bed, and I hope he has an okay night.
I should go tidy the top of the freezer (which means, it has crap all over it).
Ok, so I’m trying to read while I have a bit of a cry and I thought this meant that you would want the HASH on your wall and that stopped me cold. I was like and the weirdness is that I can laugh and cry at the same time–it’s quite the sensation.
Thanks, Lisslar and** Weiss Hase**. I feel like I’m in free fall*. I am most likely tired and will be better in the morning. Plus, I swore I’d never yell at TH again and yet this evening I got so frustrated that I did. I hate when I let myself down (and it ain’t pretty when I yell). <sigh> Do you ever wonder if any of this matters a damn? We truly bring out the worst in one another. <double sigh>
Off to be philosophical and self pitying elsewhere. I think a hot bath is called for. I wish I had a teddy bear or that autistic woman’s hug machine. Maybe I’m going crazy, slowly and don’t know it.
*but I’m not. I do not want to dramatize my own hysteria.
{{{rigs}}} I can’t pretend to know what you’re going thru, but I know you’ll come out of it all OK. Just try not to let it get you too crazy.
New kitteh has come out from under the bed and she lurves to be petted. She purrs and kneads and goes for the unoccupied hand - a real sweetie. I let Scruffy into the room, and kitteh made the oddest little growly sound in her throat. Scruffy didn’t hear a thing, but she knew by the smell that something new was in the room.
When I came out and let Taz smell my hands, he yowled, too. These guys will be a challenge to get together, but I’m hoping that once they meet, they’ll be rasslin’ buddies. Time will tell.
Here’s another pile of hugs for you, rigs. You know we actually want to hear how things are going.
Hope the fever is a passing thing for Nat, LiLi.
Hat prototype is done. And it’s an actual hat! Looks a little uneven in places, but it seems to work. Actually wound up being quite different from the pattern I started with, but in a good way (I think).
{{{{{{{{{{{{Rigs}}}}}}}}}}}}}} - keeping you in my thoughts and prayers; wish there was more I could do to help.
FCM, the new kitteh looks and sounds like a sweetie! You’re brave, though, to bring a new cat in. Good luck, I’m hoping that she and the TAZ will become good buddies.
Ima gonna medicate and head back to bed in a bit. I went to bed early tonight - before the 11 PM news even. It was my daughter’s birthday on Saturday. I fixed a roast beef, with big baked potatoes, mixed veggies and rolls. I cooked the beef in the oven, at 325 for about 3 hours, after first browning it on top of the stove (with chopped onion & mushrooms; I floured it as well), then added a bit of the leftover coffee from the am. Let me tell you, that was the best tasting roast! It was soooo tender and the coffee had formed a gravy along with the onions and mushrooms. YUM!
I probably shouldn’t be thinking of such heavy food at 3:45 am!! Back to bed with me…
