So much for sleeping in. Higgs must be cosmically linked to my bladder. Stoopit dog. But I let my sweetie sleep in because I’m nice, dammit, and because he can easily fall back to sleep, whereas unless I’m sick or exhausted, when I’m up, I’m up. So I’m up. rah.
The carpet stretchers will be here between 8 and 9, so shortly after 7, I’m going to hit the shower. I need to disassemble Higgs’ crate before they get here, but that gives me a chance to wash her bedding - bonus, I guess.
After the carpet guys leave, I’m going to gather all the pottery that goes to the store, make up an inventory sheet, and deliver it. Then, depending on the time, I may shampoo the dining room carpeting. Beyond that, I’ll wing it.
Thus beginneth the last Firday of May. Happy Firday all!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 75 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 89 and maybe rain this afternoon. We shall see. As muggy as it is out, we should get rain.
Sounds like some of y’all are in for excitatement this weekend. Unlike me who will indulge in sloth around the cee-mint pond.
Ok, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. I have several things to take care of locally so I shall be out and about a fair amount of time today. Rah.
Carpet guys are just finishing up - waiting for the hot tape to cool. As soon as they’re gone, the carpet shampooer is coming out.
I’m surprised how much they had to cut out - this carpet really stretched. But the guys said we should be able to get 5 more years, so that’s good to know. I should start saving now - create a carpet account.
It’s a sunny 66 degrees outside and supposed to get up to 84.
Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 80s and then the temps drop.
I got a letter from carefirst yesterday letting me know about the cyber attack on their system and some of my data may have been stolen.
Maybe that explains all the damn telemarketer calls I’ve been getting lately.
Anyway, they are giving us two years of protectmyid so I need to call about that today because the access code they gave me is invalid.
What a surprise.
Flipping collection agencies are hounding me again, no matter how many times I tell them I am not katrina. If I block one number they call from another and I can’t block private numbers because sometimes irk calls come through that way. One day they called me 3 times in 2 hours and every time I answered the phone they hung up. So I called them back, cussed them out, told them I am not katrina and to stop calling my number. They said they would remove my number from their list, yesterday I got two more calls.
Guess it’s time to write some letters.
No special weekend plans, same as ever.
I’ll irk and hopefully have a nice paycheck to make up for the sucky one. I need to make enough to cover the time I’ll be in the hospital as well.
Going to Sonic for lunch today, Sah-son wants some mozzarella sticks.
Happy Friday, everyone! It’s payday over at Casa De Purple. But rent is due Monday, so my newfound riches will only be visiting me for short time. I keep asking them nicely to stay longer (“Make yourselves at home!”) but - unlike that friend who just wants to crash on the couch for a couple of nights and then can’t get their shit together - these visitors keep their visits all too brief.
This is the last weekend before my move. There are a lot of cardboard boxes in my immediate future.
My weekend plans are sloth. I hope to catch up on some lost sleep and I need to continue going through my closets and purging. I got a good start on it last weekend. It’s amazing how much stuff one can collect. I found I have over 60 pairs of shoes. I am the Imelda Marcos of Big Pine Key.
Here’s hoping everyone has a GREAT weekend. Come on 5 o’clock.
PRESS RELEASE
“UNDER THE RADAR MUSIC FESTIVAL”
SATURDAY, JUNE 6 – UPTOWN HILLSBORO
Hillsboro will hold its first “Under the Radar Music Festival” Uptown on Saturday June 6th starting at 4:00 PM on Governor Trimble Place, featuring local and regional bands that are somewhat “under the radar.”
**4:00 - You may have heard the opening act “The Electric Amish” on the nationally syndicated “Bob and Tom Show”. Comedy and music combine for family friendly entertainment. **
5:30 - John Scott/Life Lately is a hometown band. They’ve been writing a lot of their own music with the result being a pop/90s sound with their own special twist.
7:00 - Mellow out with “Curious Animals“ featuring Dayton’s Reyna Spears and Dana Farley.
8:30 - Noah Smith. Noah first played Hillsboro with his rock band while he was still in high school. Last year he was nominated for Cincinnati’s Entertainment Awards in three categories: Best New Artist, Best Country Artist, and Best Singer/Songwriter.
This event is part of Mayor Hastings’ initiative to hold more events in Hillsboro for citizens and visitors alike.
This is a free open-air event next to the Highland County Courthouse. Bring your chairs but, please, no coolers.
Yes – that’s right! We’re driving a couple hundred miles and getting a motel room to attend a free concert. And we’ve done it before many times. Some of our friends describe such behavior as “goofy”.
PS – the mayor mentioned in the press release? He’s a professional comedian. Now THAT’S my kind of local government!
My weekend doesn’t start until Sunday, seein’ as I’m irkin’ tonight and tomorrow, which us going to be… Fun? By the sound of it anyway.
The girl who normally does the night shift with me is off sick, and the manager’s on holiday, which means one of the two deputies is gonna be pulling 16 hour shifts, or thereabouts, and they’d already agreed to do a bit of overtime at another store. So I’ll be irkin’ with a zombie.
When my weekend arrives, I shall mostly be trying to get stuff ready at the allotment for my new little buddies, and trying to actually source some bees! Both my plot neighbours said they could give me some last year when I said I was planning on getting some, so we shall see if either of them actually will.
The carpet is stretched, vacuumed, and about half shampooed. Once the wet half dries, the furniture will be moved back and I’ll shampoo the other half. It’s so nice not to have carpet lumps!
I just finished making up the inventory sheet - off the drop off the pottery at the little store.
Traffic was stopping and I was hitting my brakes. However, I was basing my slowing down on the car in front of me who wasn’t paying attention and had to skid to a stop - and still hit the car in front of them.
I think I had enough room to stop but I pulled off on the shoulder anyway, which seemed to upset the person behind me.
So now to call carefirst and send off a nasty email to pinnacle recovery.
Howdy from da cave! I finished up the stuff I had to do around town and twuck made the executive decision to head to da cave instead of the orifice. Ok, I’m uploadin’ some stuff to the state orifice and puttin’ in some case notes which I can do just as well here as at the orifice. Pizza for dindin. I order on-line and OYKW picks up. It’s magic!
We went to the cafe in Leonardtown for lunch, and I’m still digesting my corned beef sammich and home made chips (served warm - yum!!) So we won’t be having supper.
All the furniture is back in place - the carpet in the hall is a wee bit damp, but the rest is dry. Tomorrow, I’ll do half of one of the rooms - to be decided later. And I’ll do a buttload of laundry. I should probably assemble my new mower, too.
