I think it presumptuous to assume that players are entitled to every ‘prize’ on every event. I can’t say for sure, but I think this event was designed so that free players couldn’t get every item. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with that. YMMV

I’ve opened two gold boxes since then (because I don’t trade in blue boxes, I use them for baskets for more pink). No more pastel fences One pink box did give me Easter fences, though. I’m up to 5 fences. Only 45 to go…yeah, I don’t think I’ll make it either.
I got my second gold box last night, which yielded my first set of pastel fences. I like the other fences better. I did she Shari Bobbins listed in the prizes, though – I thought she wasn’t available until you had collected an obscene number of eggs?
The only prize in the ‘common’ box I’d like to have is the Blocko store; but of course I got my second beach towel/umbrella instead. At least it’s better than those ugly trees.
I’m not entitled to win every “prize” (I’m assuming we’re both being sarcastic here due to the plethora of fences), but I don’t like that AT THIS TIME it seems unlikely. It should be possible. Maybe not likely, but at least possible. It is not coming across to me as a challenge, but a money grab by EA. Yes, it’s a business, but there is a difference between having an event offer stuff for donuts, even 300 donut whales, and making it unwinnable if you DON’T use donuts.
I’ve opened 21 boxes and haven’t gotten any of the better prizes (just no-bonus decorations and gold eggs), and have only gotten enough gold eggs for two boxes.
This is where we disagree, which is fine. I’m assuming we’re two different people with two different views on how things should work. I don’t mind that there are so many ‘prizes’ (and I use the term prize very loosely) that it is not possible to get them all as a free player.
I don’t know how many boxes I’ve opened, but I’ve had more gold boxes. Once I figured it out, I stopped opening common boxes (blue for me) and just exchange blue for pink at neighbors’ towns and using the pinks to get gold.
Is it just me, or does it appear there are more rabbits to electrocute recently. Maybe since my play has picked up, I’m just seeing more, but I’m wondering if they’re setting up a “they’re breeding like … well, rabbits” joke in the future.
Harvesting carrots makes a whole litter of rabbits appear next to the farm. So I like to zap-clear the town of rabbits, harvest the corn, then zap the suckers as they emerge from the field. So satisfying.
When I get the two allegedly good prizes from the pink box, I plan on trading most of my pink eggs for blue ones. It seems like a good strategy. I still haven’t gotten anything good yet.
I think that’s another reason I’m super frustrated. At least during V-day when I got a dozen ponds and trains, they had a multiplier. All this junk with no multiplier, and the fences HAVE to be placed in your town to get the suck out 15 donuts.
I’m halfway there with three weeks to go, so at least I’ll get that…
Or maybe I just jinxed myself into getting ponds and beach umbrellas and sno-cone trees.
I thought if I saved up and did a bunch of boxes at once that might help, but it didn’t. It does keep the frustration to just once a day, instead of every time I get 500 eggs, so there’s that.
Just a heads up for those trying to grind out this event, it may be in your best interest to hold off completing the main quest line. Completing the quest gives you the (infinitesimal) chance of winning the “Natural Faberge Egg” from zapping bunnies but apparently also takes away your random baskets. Super lame. I haven’t gotten a single basket in a week.
I read that once you get the Faberge egg you might get baskets again. It hasn’t been confirmed yet. I’m close to the end, so I think I’m going to hold off on the last task until I find out for sure.
I did FINALLY get some of the “good” prizes last night. Just a topiary and Banana Dictatorship, but it’s so much better than another beach umbrella or more flipping fences.
Yeah, I also heard that the baskets will resume after you get the Faberge Egg, but the odds are pretty bad for getting the egg, 0.07%. Depending on how often you clear your town, that’s a good ten days of tapping (on average). That’s a long time to wait for new baskets.
I don’t think anyone should be “entitled” to everything. However, fremium players or premium players should have the same chance at everything. If EA wants to keep free players from having some of the cooler prizes, make them something that can be purchased through donuts.
I got my second pastel fence set, along with 300 gold eggs. Thats a great prize. Swap 500 gold eggs for 300 gold eggs. Shoot. Me. Now.
And yet, we are all still playing. Why, I do not know. I have wound down my playing considerably, but I still get a couple of boxes a day. No way. I win everything unless I pick up the pace or purchase some donuts. I really only want the lego building, I am sure I will never see it.
I like the strategy, i will have to try it now, since pink is where my lego building is.
What is a natural faberge egg? I guess I’ll have to do some googling for that one,
I did get confirmation that baskets will resume when you collect the faberge egg at the end of part 18 of the Easter quest. Yes, as was pointed out, the chance is really low, but it’s not like I was raking in the baskets before. I have a few in storage and a few out, plus they’re not filling up fast for me anyway. I’m at the end of the alphabet, so I’m guessing that some of my friends give up before they get down to the Xs (no judgment).
