Why won’t it end?! Did get the houseboat, then expecting the event to end I sent everyone on long tasks. Yet it ain’t over; Cecil still wants me to do shit for him.
This event was a grind.
I think the philosophy with any of these games is “make people who have a life and want everything to spend real money.”
Unless you live and breath these games, each and every hour, set your alarm clock to wake yourself up 5 minutes before midnight, or keep the game with you 24/7, there is no way you can get everything.
That’s ok with me. But I know a lot of people who want everything in each event, even if they don’t have the space to put anything in their town.
I make sure I am a good neighbor-eeno, and squish anything dropped off in my town, but good grief, I cannot keep track of corn, DNA, fertilizer, notes, masks, and god-knows-what-else I need to collect for each and every prize.
I hate these level-up buildings events. Especially when they don’t ever have a top level. You can literally level up forever, and the higher you go, the less and less you get for each level. But I see that I have a level-up, and hit the button before I think about it… Argh!
However, I am happy. I got the Homer Decoy.
If I would have known I could have earned 2 or more Homer Decoys, I would have focused on that instead of any other item.
I got what I wanted form this. I got the houseboat, two cactus fields, a cane field, two of the flower boxes, dummy Homer, the Gas and Grub, and I think 9 donuts total. The event is kind of meh and it’s obnoxious to overlap it with other stuff going on as well, like the Burns money pit and Burns having tasks with Judith at the same time but whatever, man. I’m also stupid with corn but the other two resources are not as easy to get, apparently. It also seemed like the longer 6 hour tasks happened more on the weekends when I would be busier and unable to complete them all. But looking back at it, I got a lot of stuff and there was no Wheel of Prizes, so that’s worth a couple of points in my book.
And it’s still going if you have anything left in you. The message says “Event Ending! Craft Prizes Now.” so I don’t know how long that will last.
Apparently this is the event that just won’t quit.
Driving me nuts cuz I don’t know when it’s going to end so should I craft some stuff or hold out for the Homer decoy???
AAaaaargh!!!
It’s waiting for me to get to within 1 musical note of Dame Judith Underdunk before shutting it down.
I wish I’d known it was going to go on, I bet I could have gotten the decoy. Instead it took it at its damned word and bought several ticket offices just to spend my currency, and then it extended.
Did you make it. Update is ready to finally end this thing.
Well, that was strange.
I was excited to know the event was over, only to see it still going on. I picked up anything I had enough stuff for, but if I knew it was going to be extended, I may have had a chance to get TWO Homer Decoys! (which I should have just purchased with donuts).
Still, I have one, and that is the best thing in my town. I love the Homer donut torture device, but it locks up Homer for 36 hours, which is a drag… Especially for a character that is used a lot in events.
No sign for me, and I only picked up a wall because I had enough items for it. Same with the cactus patch. I’ll probably put it in storage.
That event was too long for my tastes. Still, it did give me a chance to pick up most things without coughing up donuts, so I can’t complain much. I rarely finished the 4 daily Cecil tasks to get the big item awards, but even then, I was able to pick up enough stufF to get the items I really wanted.
This is a major difference between this and FG. They were running a very convoluted fire event, and I couldn’t be bothered. It was very cool to see my town on fire, though. I just wish it left the whole thing in ashes. But FG events just end, always on time, with very little fanfare. I don’t recall any kind of countdown to the fire event. I just went to my town today and it was no longer running.
The Simpsons has a much more user-friendly approach to things.
Got everything but cactus plant and walls, which meh. By pumping all my fertilizer-producers hard over the last few days, I was able to get a total of 12 (!) cane fields. I really like the cane fields, I want to use them near my river to make a jungley area.
I think I’m going to bomb my town and re-make it with a better layout. It’s a little too chaotic right now as most of my buildings got laid down wherever there was space.
Fuuuuuuck. I was an hour or so away from the Homer Decoy (my theater mask producers were on task) and/or able to buy it with donuts at this point…
And now the game won’t let me continue w/o the update. And now I can’t spend anything on anything.
Super sad. Suuuuper sad
The extra time got me the houseboat, which is fun. I fell short of the Gas and Grub, but I was certainly not emotionally invested there. And I will be glad for a rest.
You have my sympathy.
I suspect they will make it available at some point for donuts. I think it is one of those items most people love, and if you don’t have one, you will want one for your town. I can’t see them keeping it away from folks when they are willing to spend real money on it.
In the meantime, feel free to visit my town and enjoy the Homer Decoy as much as you want!
I just noticed…now that Sideshow Bob is a “full character,” you can’t get anything by clicking on him in neighbors’ Springfields.
I am good with this. I hated always getting directed to SSB when entering s neighbor’s town.
As for the game currently, I am wondering…
- can you put the Burns money pile in storage?
- if so, will it keep your progress to date?
- if so, will it remove the golden bear from the task list?
I loathe that money pile. Not that it is burning a hole in my brain or anything, but just looking at where I am, and the frequency I play, means that it won’t be finished for 10 years or so. Of course, I could buy my way out of it, but I cannot think of a worse way to spend donuts.
I think until that stupid thing is complete, we should never have to put Burns on any tasks, especially of the 24-hour variety. That was not exactly user-friendly to have Burns on a week-long storyline with whoever that was.
Actually, I have stopped reading the stories completely. I have no idea if this game is funny any more. The only thing I wish this game would do that FG has adopted is the “skip” button when dialogue starts.
Anyone else just playing on autopilot, or do you all still read all of the story lines?
The Money Pit gets longer tasks after a bit, for which I am happy. I just hope we have a gap before the next event, but events and new stuff earn money, so we’ll be going at it again too soon.
Agreed. I think the concept of tapping a rogue Sideshow Bob in someone’s town has outlived its usefulness. When the game was first created, having one more way to get a little money and XP was nice but having him as a full on character is better.
Yeah… I’m not as hardcore in between the events and I end up missing other towns and not playing as much. Kind of which there was some kind of creamy middle instead of all these terrifying lows and dizzying highs.
Shit. So I nuked my town, knowing it would be a pain in the ass but just wanting to try. But I forgot that the farm and Brandine were somewhat near the end of their 90 day period, and lost that progress. That’s right, no matter how pro-choice you are, I still feel weird having induced a radiation-poisoning abortion. At least I can feel better knowing that a member of the Spuckler brood is unlikely to be 100% human DNA.
RIP Sputum Spuckler.
I’ve been cramming my new buildings wherever on the edges of my map they will fit. But I finally bought some more land and spent a few hours rearranging my Springfield. It’s not completely done yet but I think it’s looking good so far. Also put all my Christmas/winter stuff into storage except one or two that I can collect from, because, well, it’s June.
I don’t want to put in the time to completely re-make my Springfield, but it isn’t that bad. Definitely running out of space; good thing I don’t have the Volcano Lair or Carl’s mountain. I like that I have a Christmas village, and a Halloween village, plus was able to keep the Hero Town and Monsarno all in one place.
Let me apologize, but I rarely visit friends towns in-between events. While extra cash is always good (especially with Burns hard at work on his money pit), it’s a time sink I like to avoid.
