The Simpsons: Tapped Out

I saw another article about the promised Futurama game. Supposedly it’s a week away, although they may have meant “a week away from some arbitrary date in the future.”

Why a casino gimmick all of a sudden? I don’t see any gambling episodes coming up any time soon - then again, only two of the next five Sundays have new episodes (Oscars, new, new, pre-empted for a Palm Sunday special, pre-empted for a repeat of the live Grease show on Easter).

Also, the Futurama game that was “just released” for iOS isn’t a TSTO/FG Quest for Stuff-style game, but more of a puzzle game with a Futurama storyline.

I just came in to mention the update. And it’s a long one 34 days or some such.

Bleh.

It looks like a clone of Candy Crush but with a storyline. I played Candy Crush, during commercials, to see what the hub-bub was about and it looks similar to the Futurama “game”.

Basically with Candy Crush the puzzles got harder and harder and harder and more complicated until I got to the point where I spent 3 days trying to get past one puzzle to continue and I just couldn’t. Not with out using real world cash to buy cheats/perks and I refuse to do that. So basically I finished the free part of the game. Early in the game they give some perks/cheats every now and then and eventually they stop and the only way to get them is real world cash.

That bit in the video with Bender using a magnet and says, “Eh, lets make this quick.” Looks like it is one of those perks/cheats you gotta buy with real cash.

Hey, there’s a slot machine you can play. That’s pretty neat.

Also you have to tap gamblers to send them back to the casino. I’ve found four different ones so far.

The guy in black coat that starts the quest.

A blonde lady with a red jacket and red ball cap.

An older black lady with white hair, red shirt and green pants.

A hunched over guy with sea green jacket and brown hat.

I’m getting 10 red tokens used for the prizes with each gambler I send back and sometimes a gold token you use to play the slot machine.

With the slot machine I was able to play about 15 times before I ran out of tokens and only once did I not win. You only have to match two of the three to win. Matching two gets you like 30 or 50 red chips while matching three gets you 100-150 or so. Also it lets you cheat. 4 times I got a “Barney, beer mug, Barney” and the game told me to cheat and make the middle one a Barney and I got 400 red chips each time.

Is there anything you can do with the tokens other than play the slot machine? IOW, is there any reason to be saving them up or should I just be using them as I get them? I’d hate to use them as I get them only to find out that I need 100 of them for something in two days.

I’m still working on SH and there’s a lot of budgeting your time and all the different types of things you need to buy the buildings.

Right now? No, although there are at least two more casinos that will be available, and that may just be Act 1, so you might want to save a few. I am going under the assumption that whatever games they add will still be there when this storyline ends, but will pay out in coins rather than chips.

Also don’t forget that you can tap gamblers in other Springfields.

You can also drag and highlight sections of your town now, that’s cool for rearranging.

Do we know how much tapping in other towns gets you? Seems 10 per but I haven’t gotten to a limit yet.

Looks like it’s 30 neighbors.

It’s taken from “$pringfield (or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)”. Classic episode. I’m hoping that someone has come up with a picture of Gamblor for us to unlock.

Either way, I’m going to use them slowly. During Halloween I saved up those tentacle monsters and I eventually had so many that I couldn’t possibly use them fast enough.

I’ve been spending them like gangbusters since you get red chips from the slot machine and those are used for the prizes.

Am I correct that the Walk of Fame stars generate something or other that boosts my players’ club membership? Should I buy them?

There are a lot of moving parts here.

As far as I can tell:

Crafting stuff will add to your Player’s Club totals (just check - looks like just the first few items add to it).

Getting the milestone prizes from the chips also adds to your Players Club.

I’ve gotten the hang of what to do, but not strategy yet. Should I be spending my coins? Hoarding them for later? Should I craft stuff? Which stuff? I’m on track to get the prizes so I’m not concerned, but I’m fairly confused.

Twice now my Daily Challenge has been to collect 5 complimentary chips, which as far as I can tell are from losing at slots. This requires about 50 slot machines games, so I’m hoarding some coins for that.

Play Cletus’ dice game instead. It’s all or nothing–so bet on 2 (or 12) each time and either win 400 chips or pick up one complimentary chip. You’ll get those five much quicker.

Reminder that Act 2 starts in just a few hours.

It looks like betting 5 or 9 is theoretically the best profit on the “craps.” That is providing that the dice are accurate, and not accounting for cheating. And I assume that you can’t get the “erase your bet” cheat if you’re already betting 2/12. But the slots seem much more profitable to me, unless your challenge requires losing.
