I have not spent much real money on the game. I did spend some amazon credits I earned for dl content to my kindle and I bough a few scratchers here and there with itunes credit.
I have nearly 4000 donuts (in-game currency) from saving up, exploiting loopholes, and from playing often for a long time. You earn donuts really easily and you DO NOT NEED TO SPEND THEM to succeed in the game, in events. So unlike other similar games, you’re not missing out on lots of content by not spending real money. You won’t have everything, but you could have a fulfilling, fun game. And the things that cost donuts that you might decide you want? Sometimes you can win them, sometimes they’re on sale, and you just save up. Besides the monorail thing (which would take ages for a new player to catch up to) there are lots of ways to earn donuts. I get probably 10 a week without trying. Most things cost less than 300 donuts, usually around 100-150 for the best, larger stuff. So being a fairly diligent and lucky player, you could earn something every couple months. Work harder and are luckier? Get more.
But the stuff that costs donuts? Some more obscure characters (other than Barney), funky buildings and decorations. The whole Simpson family is free. The Flanders are (mostly. Maude was free but I think she’s premium now). Most of the power plant, the school, the bar.
I second that emoticon. I paid money early going by the thought of how much it was worth to me so it wasn’t a whole lot. There are several ways to earn donuts built into the game now so spending for them doesn’t seem necessary now, though I think you’ll have a ways to go before you can get to those buildings (Monorail and Play Doh factory are the two big ones).
Some of the premium characters seem more needed than others – I don’t regret getting Barney or Duffman, though getting the Duffman skin at the sportsball event was pointless.
And speaking of donuts, I just got some free ones for logging in just now.
We all got 15 free donuts today. So if we have 10 events a year (conservatively) and you earn 10 from each event, that’s 100 donuts right there, enough to buy something fairly decent.
Yeah, about 3900 donuts. I had been squirreling them away. Hadn’t bought much since Belle, but when the “final” level hit, I took advantage of the glitch and burned through all my in-game cash to buy bloodmobiles for the XP and got 3000+ level up donuts. Haven’t bought anything but the Burns and Smithers robot since then.
I’m going to sit for a bit to see what else is offered during this event. Although, the Space Collider with the black hole is intriguing. I guess it was a prize during an event last year? Not sure how I missed out on it – I’m usually finishing the events fairly easily.
As for dumping money into the game, I’ve spent maybe $25.00 in scratchers over a 3-year period. The game is perfectly enjoyable without spending a dime. As has been said, there are an insane number of characters, most of them free. And donuts for the last few months have been a lot easier to come by, so saving up for a premium character or item hasn’t been that difficult.
With this current event, it looks like I’m going to end up with a buttload of holotulips because I can’t see myself crafting 11 of any other item.
Tulips all the way. When you craft stuff, it counts towards leveling up, so don’t spend your event currency updating your crafting level. Spend it on crappy craftables you can keep in storage in case some day you do want/need them. Two birds, one stone.
I was referring to future bucks. They don’t count toward leveling. And you can use them only on items you’ve maxed out at 11. I just don’t see myself crafting 11 of anything. The only reason I maxed the tulips was because it completed a task.
I’ve moved to crafting trees. I have a lot of tree farms.
I like this event more than the last few, but I’m tired. And I think I have to re-do my town and put ugly stuff in storage. I mean, I used to not put stuff that made money in storage, but I don’t use my monorail, I hate my casinos mostly, and this event’s stuff is big and So. Much.
Good call on the trees. I hadn’t realized that they were in the prize track. I haven’t got to them yet but should tonight after I get the Holo Hula Hoop or whatever. That will likely be where I dump my Future Bucks. I did see, however, that there’s something called a Future Buck Conversion Pack or something coming up. Not sure what that’s all about.
I’m at 21394 crystal things and I don’t think that I’ll get to 24000. I would have liked Sgt. Skinner and I usually get to the end of the act prizes with a day or more to spare but I’m surprised how far off I am this time around.
What I have been doing is not bothering to tap on individual robots but just doing the the triggers the flying robot attack on the black hole machine. The regular robots disappear during the event so I assumed they were being destroyed and I was getting the stuff from them.
But maybe it disappears the robots with out collecting their stuff.
So if anyone knows whats actually going on please share with the class. I’m going to some digging around and see if I can find anything.
One asking if people were able to get Sgt. Skinner about 50% said yes. 50% no and weren’t going to be able too.
And the other one is asking how many times did they log in each day. 33% said 4-5 times daily. Another 1/3 said 3+ times a day.
I’ve only been doing it twice a day on weekdays and then on and off again all weekend. I guess I just need to add a morning session to make it 3 times a day. I can’t do more than that as WiFi is locked at work so I can’t do a session there.
Oh well. I’m not going to miss Skinner anyways. We’‘l see what the next acts’ prize is tomorrow.
I’m 900 away with five and a half hours to go, and three hours to my next fight. I maxed out what I could get from friends, something I don’t usually do. Even if I’m able to stay awake the next three hours to collect from that last round of Homers and do the battle. I think I’m still short.
It occurred to me that I started the event a day or two late because the update wasn’t immediately available on Kindle. That would help explain why I’m not finishing act one, but even that aside, I can’t believe 50% of players updated late. It’s just been a tight event.
