I don’t think that the new Cecil trek is connected to the event at all other than it appeared at the same time. I’m guessing this is a Money Mountain or Giant Redwood type thing that will be around until you complete it.
Yes almost certainly. So there is likely no deadline; complete at your leisure.
Was there any special unlock message or quest if you didn’t already have Cecil?
Not sure if there is a maximum shovel limit, but looks like it’s okay to use them as soon as you get them and the excavation will remain.

You guys I spent 100 donuts on shovels at 2:30 am this morning, trying to get enough of those big gems to get the baby t-Rex.
It was worth it. 
So cute!
Also doing that many digs helped me get enough shells for Caveman Moe. So that’s good.
I have been a horrible grinder so far 
I barely got the caveman Moe and I played a lot in act 1. The drop rate is weird.
It’s slightly better than the last couple events, but I’m bored and I want the wheel back at this point for variety.
I missed both Caveman Moe and the baby T-Rex. First time in a long time, maybe a year, I didn’t finish. Now it wants 100 donuts for Moe and 80 for T-Rex. I’ll pass. Not sure why I didn’t finish. I didn’t play any less than any other event.
I got TRex at least a week ago but didn’t get Cave Moe. I think it was because I skipped visiting friends this time (if we are friends, I will start again!). I stopped because the payoff was negligible the last few events.
I will now say that Cecil almost certainly won’t go away any time soon. I had tens and tens of millions of dollars and thought it would be sufficient. Nope.
The new Futurama game is coming. I don’t know if I’ll have the time for another time sink game…
I’m looking forward to it. I was playing Family guy but that is a huge time sink and I never finished an event because they make it so you have to play 24/7 or spend real world money to finish.
So if this will be on par with the Simpsons it’ll be perfect for me.
The same thing happened to me. I am being a bit more lackadaisical than I have been in the past, but the prizes this time have not excited me.

I sideloaded the beta and played for awhile. It plays like the Family Guy game with an extra ‘combat’ element. It forced an upgrade on me, so I’m just waiting for the official version.
At least in the beta, nothing is timed, which is the main reason I stopped playing FG.
I hope it stays that way. The FG events never gave enough time.
There’s a short, so far, 4th of July event going. So far it’s just been sending Bart and Lisa on a few 6s quests.

New Update and Archaeology is out and Pride Festival is in. I’m contemplating making a Boy’s Town area in my Springfield.
I just got to the ship and Sexy Pirate yesterday so I was right under the gun on the last leg of that quest.
I also have quests leftover for Willie and Moe but they have tasks to collect Pride badges.
Yeah I have tasks for them too. I also barely finished the event logging in 3+ times a day every day. Usually 4-5. Probably never just 3.
I get they use Moe and Willie and Homer and Lisa because they’re low-level characters, but it makes it impossible to do quests that don’t pay currency AND earn currency in events’ tasks with literally the same person… or have Lisa earn me useless crap on the eliminator.
Maybe … oh… I don’t know… a few fucking days off between events would help in catching up.

I did surprisingly well in this last event, considering I was home on vacation for almost the entire event and was busy with family, home improvements, the never-ending “honey do…” list, etc. There were several days where I just set everyone on 24hr tasks, and collected shovels/excavated, visited friends, and used the panini press when I could.
I didn’t get all the prizes & things, but still did pretty well.

Pride event? Pride in what? I want the non-gay explanation!
I played more often than that and still failed to get all of the final prizes except the Sexy Pirate. I found this event a lot harder than the other ones, and I think used an efficient digging method and everything.
