The Simpsons: Tapped Out

If you go back and look, we collected our usernames. You can add us and most of us will accept.

Well I got the updates this evening and Halloween is now over. I was about 400 goos away from another donut prize, but I don’t know if I could have gotten that tonight anyway.

There is a new quest that was just published and it has the Fleet-a-Pita van. I believe the operative word here is “Aw hells yeah!”

I was 100 GOO away and it was just a matter of visiting a few friends before updating. At that point, I figured I might as well just do it since it would only take a few people to put me over the top and get a couple of donuts.

I thought I’d have until midnight and was going to make goo drops to people who were close. I started and did a few drops, then the app crashed. When I restarted, it had the update. Dang.

I’m glad to see it all bright again; the dimness of the screen over the last month hurt my eyes.

There are three new buildings and two new characters - Bachelor Arms with Kirk Van Houten, Office of Unemployment (both with quests) and the Cracker Factory with Luanne Van Houten (premium item). Also the Southern Cracker Fountain.

I forgot that it’s been dim for the last month, I thought they brightened the screen. :smack: It’s so much easier to see now. Also, is it just me or can you zoom out farther now. I swear I can see way more of my city then I could before.

Oh MAN! I have to slog through 33 pages of messages?

I’m glad to see the Halloween event over as well. I started playing while it was going, and was too low level to be able to do much with it.

Nah, just go back over the last few pages and you’ll find a giant list.

In fact, I was going to suggest that each time we have a new member they just go through that list, add all of us, then add their name and repost the list. That will be a good way of keeping it current.

If we start to hit the top end of what we can have as friends we can work on getting rid of people that aren’t active. I mean, it really doesn’t matter for most of the year if someone isn’t active, everyone can still go there and collect, but during certain events you still rely on people to give stuff to you (snake eggs, gremlins etc).

I appear to still be able to collect goo/gremlins/donuts and complete Halloween quests. I guess I’ll be accumulating donuts very very slowly by myself until the next big event.

I’m guessing they’re rolling it out so everyone doesn’t hit the servers all at once. It didn’t download automatically for me either. When I was going to other Springfrields trying to collect more GOO it wouldn’t let me go to someone’s town until I updated. That’s when I knew the update was available. When I saw that I finished getting enough GOO to get some donuts then went back to that town to trigger the update.

Everything is so bright now! The shadows are all I know.

You know, I really hate how Other Springfield mocks you with it’s rapid evolution, and it’s abundant space. I probably need to hit two or three dog track jackpots just to expand to where I can start actually arranging my town properly.

That kind of bugs me too. Everytime I see it (or someone elses that I like) I think about how I want to rearrange mine to ‘look nice’. That I lose the motivation and end up forgetting about it.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been buying up property since there hasn’t been much else to do/buy. The idea being that I can make things look nice as I buy them instead of trying to rearrange what I do have.
Of course, I lack the creativity/inspiration to do what I see other people doing so that makes it a bit harder as well.

Has anyone else noticed their Count Burns wandering while normal Mr. Burns is doing another job? I think it’s only when the task is completed though. And i have yet to be able to get both costumes working on different jobs.
Mostly just care because Smithers only has a 60m task when Burns is free.

And the Millhouse family was added to the game, along with level 37. Seems like a long quest chain, with part 13 unlocking a new premium item too.

The only time I notice it is if I have Burns in his Count costume (but not doing anything) and then have Smithers exercise for him. Then I’ll see them on their bike and Count Burns still walking around. It took me a few minutes to figure out that it was a glitch.

Someone help out a n00b? WTF is the handshake icon? I see that some of you that I’ve … uh … Simpsons-friended ™ have left these, and that I get $ for it when it is tapped. How do I reciprocate? Whence do they come? Is this somehow related to the tile conversation up thread? Cuz if so, I totally missed that boat.

Lil’ help?

That’s just what happens when someone goes to your town and clicks on some of your houses. To reciprocate, go to their town and click on their house…you’ll get money/XP for doing it.

I found another glitch with the tile glitch. If someone has a floating tile, you can click on it, back out, go back to their city and the tile is back and it lets you click on it again (which makes sense I guess).
I clicked on the tile three times on Kaargh, Labtrash, happycamper5, gritngile181’s. You guys have to let me know if you got three tiles from me. I don’t see why it wouldn’t have worked.
The thing is, it’s a lot of work to visit the towns three times and you don’t collect any money from it (and you hardly collect any money visiting towns to begin with*).

*I did the math the other day and I collect 1440 going to all the other towns, IMO, for the amount of work it takes, you should be collecting more money. At least once you’ve reached the highest level and you don’t need the XP anymore.

No, Joey, it doesn’t work that way. The other person has to collect the handshake between each one. One person can’t leave three handshakes at once. (However, if you don’t have time to visit your neighbor more than once a day, doing it the way you did is a good way to rack up a ton of XP, and leave one handshake.)

But in other news it appears the tile glitch may also apply to Open Air Stage, Channel 6, and Cletus’ Farm. So, if you don’t have time to visit your tile neighbor three times, click on their tile and any one of the above buildings to help them stack handshakes.

I just started this game about a week ago. Talk about completely mindless!
Yeah, I’m addicted.
I have no friends, I’m not even sure what they’re for. You guys can come visit my town and vandalize things? That sounds, well, not terribly fun.

Anyway, my username is enderboy1126

And it keeps logging me out, which is really annoying.

The vandalizing doesn’t hurt you. You get money for cleaning it up. And that’s really only a small part of visiting.

In reality, if you don’t participate in the Halloween and Christmas events, then no, you really don’t need any friends. But you get some fun free stuff by participating, so yes, you need friends, as many as you have time to visit. But I wouldn’t worry about it until the Christmas event starts.

Go back (in this thread) a page or two (or three) and you’ll find a big list of names. Add all of us, add your name to the end of the list and repost it.

As for friends, having friends come to your town (right now) doesn’t do a whole lot* (right now), but going to other people’s towns will help you collect some money/XP so it’s worth it, especially when you’re starting out and really starving for money, and you will be for the first few months. Having friends come to your town is important during some of the holiday specials when you need them to drop things off in your city to help you out (Gremlins, Snake Eggs etc).

*There is one advantage to having people come to your town, cleaning up vandalism helps up one of your star ratings. It works when you clean up vandalism in other towns as well. Of course the difference between 3 stars and 3.5 or 4 stars isn’t a whole lot. The real money is in all the other things, when you spend donuts and can get some real multipliers going. For example, right now I think my multiplier is at 50 or 53%. That is, if I hit a building that says I’m supposed to get $100, I’ll get $150.
