I thought this Lisa quest was for Christmas and I saw someone’s town had Homer flying in a sleigh dressed as Santa as well as decorations. The end of the quest is just a semi truck and a teaser for the epp this Sunday.
It could have been me: I converted all my houses to Christmas decorations a couple of days ago, and since Homer generally gets more $$ on Santa tasks, I’ve been having him to those. All in anticipation of the XMas update.
Well 'tis the season and all.
Two more donuts and the USS Tom Clancy is mine
2.25% for 50 donuts is pretty good, right?
Anyone know spoilers for when Christmas actually begins in Tapped Out?
It’s not bad. I bought it. If you’re saving up for it, I’d probably buy a character instead. Do that math and see if you’d make more money with the 2.25% or putting a premium character though the jobs you put all the other characters though each day.
OTOH, after a certain point, it’s gets hard to have so many people running around. I sometimes find myself putting half my people on one hour jobs and half of them on two hour jobs just so that in an hour I only have to reset half of them. But then I have a huge reserve (WRT money) and I’m not actively building up my town right now. In that case, just having the bonus is nice. More money, no extra effort.
I haven’t seen this yet, but I love the idea. If I ever get a ton of characters, I will copy this.

I like your shout out to the SDMB, Labtrash.
OMG I had totally missed that! It is cute. One of my friends wrote “Merry X-Mas” in squidport tiles, which I also thought was pretty awesome.
I don’t want to be one of THOSE people, but I am itching for Christmas and was so disappointed it didn’t start today. Some people think early next week, some people are speculating the week after (Christmas-themed episode a week from Sunday). I wasn’t around last year at Christmas, but I guess it started on the 5th. So hoping it would start this week wasn’t unreasonable. I’ve been holding off on some of my tasks so I have available money and land. Maybe I’ll get spendy because it looks like I’ll have at least 48 hours to earn it back.
I loved Halloween, but I was sick of it by the last day, especially when I knew I wasn’t going to collect that last 2000 goo.
Has anyone else seen the town hall spray painted with the silhouette of two women instead of the words El Barto? I’ve seen it once on my town hall then I did a mishmash of El Barto and a woman on someone’s town.
Problem is, all of the premiums I want are 120+ donuts! and I’ve got 48.
Wish in game cash could buy them. Sitting on $4.7 million right now.
In a roundabout way they can.
If you’re at max level buy and place decorations that give good XP/$. Collect XP and sell back decorations. Repeat until out of money. The XP should get you to the bonus level doughnuts faster than normal. Earning enough XP for 70+ will take a long time though.
I agree. For example, if they wanted to charge 1,000,000 for every 50 donuts an item is worth, people may consider doing that once in awhile.
Barney’s Bowlarama would cost you 5,000,000 I believe, but if you want to go that route, it is up to you. Hey, they could even let you use a combo of donuts and cash.
Can i ask how long you have been playing to gather up that much money, and how long it took you to get to the point where you have stopped actively building?
I haven’t played very kong, but i have noticed that right now, at least, I’m not really generating enough money to build everything right away. This delays the quests, obviously. I’m not worried about this, but it seems I can never get my bonus percentage up very high at all. The highest I’ve had it is 4%, but now it’s back down to 2%. I can’t seem to build enough restaurants, or whatever to build up the star ratings on different categories.
Is it a better strategy to just sit tight with building everything you are given a chance to build until you can build up a nice cash reserve? Right now, I feel like I’m paying as I go, which doesn’t leave me much for land expansion, trees, or decorations to build up my tree-hugging or vanity ratings.
Just curios, as I imagine this game starts off slowly for everyone, but sooner or later cash starts to roll in with all of the houses, buildings, and characters paying off ever few hours or so.
As a rough estimate, buildings give you $300 a day, characters give you $600 a day, and % give you $6/per character/day + $3/building/day. A midsize Springfield probably has 15 characters and 40 buildings, let’s say. A % is then worth a little more than $200 a day.
Three blue houses* will almost always be cheaper than a building that gives a character, and will earn the same income. A blue house is cheaper than a % and will earn a higher income.
If your goal is to make the most money, make as many blue houses as you can, forever. If your goal is to finish the quests, read the dialog, and see as much of the game you can, make a big block of blue houses to fund your growth, and then prioritize quest stuff when you have a good income. If you have a nice looking Springfield as a goal, either try to sprinkle as many cheap houses in as you can aesthetically justify, or make a big ugly block, wait a month, then sell off the big ugly block. Note that if you are on the temporary big ugly block plan, to set a date to sell it off or it’ll probably become a permanent one.
*I use white houses because I only check twice a day ideally, and I am not making full use of my money
tabor,
Thanks for the breakdown.
I want to make a cool looking springfield, but right now I need money. So, I have shoved most of my stuff out of the way, and have just two streets, one with houses, the other businesses. The rest of the space I have is taken up by blocks of mostly blue, but also one block of brown and another block of pink houses.
When I get to the point of making a lot of money from characters and tasks, and buildings, I will probably start selling off my houses to clear space and to make my Springfield the way I want. I have a feeling, though, that this will take a long time. As I understand it, this game has been out for a while now, and people have been playing it for over a year, so I realize I have just put my toe in. There are so many buildings and characters out there that i haven’t even seen or have been given permission to build, so i realize I am at the beginning of this game, even though I am somewhere in the 20’s level-wise.
I guess patience is the biggest thing I need right now. I really don’t know why i’m in such a hurry.
One question for everyone. Has anyone else had difficulty in adding friends lately? I have not been able to connect to the server for the past 4 days now, and it is a bit frustrating. I don’t know what the problem is, but I have been having trouble all over the place with connections. It took me about 10 tries to get into Krustyland today. The game just kept crashing. And I tried to leave feedback on the game, and that hung as well. They must be having trouble wi their server load, because i didn’t have any problems when i first started. Or maybe they added a buggy update.
I am curious as to what everyone else’s experience has been the past week or so… Have you noticed the game crashing, or have you seen nothing out of the ordinary? The inability to add friends has been very frustrating.
It really doesn’t take too long before getting money isn’t really an issue. Other than getting the multi-million dollar special items I haven’t had to worry about having enough money for months. And I never had to rely on house farms.
I’ve had no problems with the game over the last week. I play on Apple devices.
I got prompted for my password last night, which is typically indicative of server problems from what I’ve noticed. I was able to log on without an issue though.
I will say, don’t put off quest for too long. I don’t know what will all be in the Christmas update, but there might be limited time items/quests that you would need a specific character for. I didn’t get everything from the Halloween update because I hadn’t unlocked Marge yet.
I’m still having problems. It crashes every time I try to go to Krustyland the first time after I log in, and I still can’t add a new friend. It always bumps me off and makes me reconnect to the server.
I’m on an iPad, and i have the latest updates. I’ve also rebooted my ipad a few times with no change.
Last night, I almost had a heart attack as I logged in and the game was back to square one. I couldn’t figure out what happened, and thought I was starting over. Turns out I was no longer logged in.
What is everyone’s feeling about the extra inert characters wandering around, both for your own town and when you visit friends? I’m referring to zombies, dogs, Funzos, frog princes, and so forth.
Over the past couple of months it seems I’ve accumulated quite a few. Whereas before it was just SLH (the dog) and a Funzo, now I’ve got a porpoise, turkey, and a bunch of other stuff clogging up my streets, but with no purpose other than decoration. I finally had enough last night and boxed them all.
What do you think? Do you prefer to see them or not?
