Tugig, that was an excellent clip, very moving. However, your voice was so yummy, it was actually a bit distracting. I think I need to listen to it more, so I can get used to it.
So, today, I see three different students for the last time. I had thought the program I’m working through gave them 20 hours of tutoring each. Turns out, it’s only 16, and I’ve reached the limit on them. So, I’m wrapping up on my own time, getting paperwork finished, saying goodbye, and telling each of the kids just how neat they are. And they are. Going to miss them.
Oh, and interesting follow-up in my life. Last month, I got a new desk, because phoukabro major moved in with us, and I had to move into my mom’s bedroom, and all my work/writing/whatever stuff went downstairs. I got a Sauder desk, and I was ready to dynamite it by the time I was done. Unlabeled parts! 230 fasteners thrown in one bag! Dust! Cruddy particle board! GAH! So, I ended up writing a letter of complaint to the company and mailed it off last week.
Well, a higher up in customer service called me this morning to follow up. The president of the company read my letter. It has been copied and forwarded to multiple people, including some of the product engineers. The lady I talked to said they were actually very glad to get the letter, because I spelled out why I was unhappy (I guess I’m getting extra good at that these days). She also explained that some of the problems were caused by adopting new procedures that took several stages to roll out, and that the dust, for instance, was caused by a change in the board composition required by CA law. Very interesting stuff.
I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone thank me so sincerely for complaining to them. At any rate, they won me back, and I love them heartily.
