Didn’t get the memo but it was apparently old home weel at Run Club tonight; a bunch of people who haven’t been there in a year or two! Cool to catch up with (some of) them. Others left before I had a chance to say more than, “Hi”.
I got something really cool & literally one-of-a kind. It’s four 1’ x 1½’ pieces that I want to frame. Not sure iffn I’m going to do all in one frame or in four separate frames. Holy sheet it’s gonna be 'spensive, but the weird thing is I’ve gone to two different framers, one wanted more for the 4x1 option while the other wanted more for the 1x4 option. :smack:

Way too hot today, and I am desperately hoping that Regional Transit has my keys. Gotta go there tomorrow to find out, otherwise I’m looking at some serious expense to replace things like the car key (grumble growl). The attendance hit for the absence is not going to be a good thing, but Transit’s customer “service” is only open during weekday business hours.

I shall accomplish mowage of da cave yahd this mornin’ and then head over to the church house to meet with the fire alarm folks and do some other stuff whilst there. All that should be enough to keep me outta trouble to day I reckon. I envision majik intartoobz pizza for sup. I have been told, told mind you that I shall be the center of a soiree out by the cee-mint pond tomorrow. Fortunately is shall be a smallish gatherin’ and, since 'twill be my bday celebration (actual day is Moanday) I chose cheesecake which shall be made tonight. I lurves the cheesecake OYKW makes. Truth be told, I’d just as soon ignore the whole thing.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I must commence mowage and then purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Such a bother!
Morning, mumpers! Welcome to the end of the week for some of us. It’s been a very hot one over here in the least sticky out bit of the UK. Yesterday most of our public transport systems melted so there were no trains or trams running on my route home. Instead of the usual hour commute, I had to use buses and it took closer to 4 hours to get back to my house. Needless to say, I was a limp sticky mess by the time I got in.
Revived somewhat by a soak in a cool bath, Chinese takeaway and my friend’s weekly radio rock show, then had to endure the upstairs sauna that we call a bedroom. Even the fan and several open windows didn’t do much to bring the temperature down so I was awake at the crack of sparrow’s fart today.
Consequently I was at work before I’m even allowed to clock in. I shall celebrate by going home early in the hopes that it takes less than half the day to get there.

The RoxStar had another bad night - starting at midnight-ish. So I was awake till after 4, then I sorta dozed for a couple of hours. It’s gonna be a long-ass day. I had intended to clean the dining room carpet today, but I think I’ll leave it till tomorrow - I’m just too tahred!!
If we didn’t have Higgs, I’d have slept in longer, but I feel bad for her if she doesn’t go out before 7AM. Consequently, the critters have been tended to, the dishwasher has been loaded and started, and I’ve breakfasted, with caffeination continuing. It can only get better, right?
Roxy is up and perky - guess she got some sleep… I think I’ll shower and head to the grocery store while it’s still cool out. After that, who knows… a nap?

Unfortunately I had to close the LR windows because of all the road irk going on out there.
More tension at the dog park as another unneutered male showed up again today.
This time a pit. The pit and the dobie were not doing well together, and the dobie went home. The pit and the hound were kind of sort of okay for a while, then the pit went home. Ripple and the hound played for a bit, but the hound started getting all humpy and Ripple was getting snippy, so the hound went home.
I think I should set up a fund for people who can’t afford to get their dogs neutered.
I don’t know what this county offers. I know in Baltimore County my friend’s grandson could take his cats to a place that will do shots and spaying for $20.

Got my big ass paycheck today. Now I have to choose between paying bills, saving it for a bit, or splurging on something.
Although splurging is kind of off the list since I just bought a bunch of yard stuff and some new furniture.
I was hoping for another good week but I think that is not happening.

Back from Aldi, and for the first time in recent visits, I didn’t come out a quarter ahead. The 3 times before today, when I went to either get or return my cart, the previous shopper didn’t take the quarter back. Cha-ching!!!
I have some ground beef and a poke loin to ready for the freezer. It’s nice to have the extra freezer - it’s not big, but it’s big enough - the size of an under-counter fridge. It’ll relieve the overloading of the freezer in the fridge. Huzzah!
I ended up at urgent care yesterday. Diagnosis: sinus infection. I am now on 10 days of antibiotics and prednisone. I made the mistake of taking the prednisone in the afternoon yesterday and depiste being exhausted, could not sleep. The thermometer said I don’t have a fever but all day yesterday I was so hot, even my scalp was sweating. I slept with an ice pack, in front of fan, with the a/c set at 74. Woke up at 3:30, fell back asleep until 7. Took this prednisone with breakfast today so I hope it won’t disrupt my sleep. That is my tale of woe.

Other than that looking forward to the weekend. Which for me is just tomorrow. Doing a double Sunday which I now believe is a mistake; we’ve hired another 125 people since last week when I signed up for it and more to come today. Which means 3-and-outs and sitting around being bored inbetween. They are changing our shift times next month and padding the roster to Hell and back getting ready for massive bails ----- which may or may not happen. But these new bosses are so used to stacking the deck that its truly habitual.
AS are we all. (Sorry for the politics that is, although some of us are full of hot air as well.)
Those of you who read my posts may recall that we had a bid of $24k to re-roof our moneypit. We’ve had 2 other bids since. One from a guy who turned out not to have a contractors license, and the other was for $23.4K, but at least it included the (detached) garage. The first one didn’t. Wifey is depressed. I’m not sure how I feel. le sigh.
Bumba could you get away with repairs? Ask for quotes on re-doing the bad spots, replacing missing shingles, killing off the moss, etc. It would be less and might give you several more years.
Sari I don’t necessarily mind the unfixed dogs at the dog park (although sometimes that’s against the rules) but I hate people who can’t control their dogs and let them get aggressive. The dog park we go to now is attached to the training yard for the city’s police dog. We get a lot fewer problems that way.

Well, transit did not have my keys. Got dupes of everything but the car key (that’s a work in progress, given the need for price-shopping), came home to find out that neither the new mailbox key nor the original I took in work. The only working mailbox key we have is the one on DH’s keyring, so we need to get two more copies of his once he’s off work (one for me, one to file for possible future need).
Protip: it does help a lot if, when moving into a new place, you take the keys you’re given at that point to the key duplication place of your choice and make a set for each household member who will need them (pets and pre-grade-school children most likely do not ). Then, file the originals somewhere safe. That way, if you need more copies, you retrieve those nice fresh not-worn originals to use as masters for further copies.
Today definitely called for therapy carne asada nachos (now making themselves at home in my stomach).
Home. Weekend finally. I have a long weekend as I am off to the mainland with hubby to his cardiologist on Moanday. That will be a wasted day. Three to four hours each way with probably less than an hour there. And that’s assuming no traffic tie-ups on the highway. The last time we tried to make this appt the road was closed so we turned around and came home. Tomorrow I am off to Buddy’s first Vet appt. That is the extent of my weekend plans. Hope to get some quality sleep in there somewhere.
