The Straight Dope Lost and Found Desk

Lost: One Bali bra—size 40DD, white. Lost about 2 weeks ago. It was my favorite!

Found: Assorted change, in front of the StopNGo…please identify for return.

**Lost: ** My debit card outside a CoMerica ATM in Shelby, MI at about 1pm today.

** Found ** A new found loathing for CoMeria’s Customer service and their inability to allow the customer to call directly to the bank instead of an 800 number.

Lost A jar of quarters back in 1976 that I hid, or so I thought, in a bucket of rocks that were used as display next to our fireplace or in the back of the linen closet. The jar of quarters were hidden as we were about to embark on a family vacation and I was sure that Bad Guys were going to break into the house with the intention of stealing my quarters! I was saving up for the Monkees’ album, dontchaknow?

I would like the jar and quarters back. With Interest.

I have the most incredible coinkydink to report.

Lost: One Job. Well, not lost exactly, I mean, I know where it is, but when I go there, There’s this new guy doing it;

Lost: One girlfriend. Well, not lost exactly, I mean, I know where she is, but when I go there, There’s this new guy …
With Apologies to Bobcat Goldthwait…

Lost (well, probably stolen): A dark blue loden coat at the last Oktoberfest.

Found: A photo-album and six bars of Milka chocolate, in the subway, on the very same day.

Will trade.

So would late grandpa, whose damn coat it was.

Lost: 50 cent coin loaned to a class mate back in 1992. Have since written it off for tax purposes, but would still like it back.

Found: Some kid’s underwear I saw on the roadside, looks like it would fit 5-10 y.o. child

Err… just to make it clear, I ‘found’ the underwear but did not touch it nor bring it home with me. As far as I know it’s still there.

Ummm… that is all.

Well, “distracted mommy” put it / forgot it on the roof of the car while stowing the little precious in the back seat.

Be glad… with one or two mommies I know it could have been little precious on the roof.

Nobody wants to find such.

Lost: One leather jacket with my car keys in the pocket (class of '93 keyring & a big red “B”) stolen from a bar in Orangeburg, SC. (Thanks a lot…I didn’t have another car key in that particular state.)
Lost: One ring, rubies and diamonds in a small diamond shaped setting. Given to my by my father and last seen at my great-grandmother’s house on a dresser in the guest room.

Lost: A pair of Rayban sunglasses. Last seen, a time share in Destin FL by the pool.

Lost: A chow by the name of Sadie. Last seen near Hinesville GA in my front yard.

Found: One lazy cow-orker. Please claim immediately. Interest is accruing hourly.

Lost: All faith in the Chargers. Probably wherever Mike Riley is now.

Lost: An action figure depicting some character (Drake or something, I think) from the Alien movie(s), when I was a child (probably in the late 80s or early 90s). Last seen being carried around by me at the Knott’s Berry Farm in the Mall of America in Minneapolis. Believed to have been lost while I was riding a roller coaster–the most traumatic roller coaster of my life, and not just because I lost my favorite toy.
I should note that I’ve never seen the Alien movies, I just thought the toy looked cool when I was a little kid, so I asked my mom to buy it for me.

Found: A baseball that went over a fence in the University City community of San Diego and hit a sidewalk I was walking home on in 1999.

Lost: Same baseball. Might be in my attic. Otherwise, probably somewhere in San Diego.

Lost: 23 left socks
Found: dryer lint

Found: Woman’s cutoff top. Black and white striped. Discovered on the hood of my car after my friends and I exited a nightclub in Windsor, Ontario one evening about 6 or 7 years ago. A brief scan of the parking lot failed to locate any topless ladies who might be the garment’s owner. Unfortunately, the top has long since been disposed of, but if you were the owner, be assured that you made my evening a memorable one

Lost: my Pet Rock, which fell off its grommit and leash, in my parents’ back yard, circa 1977. Also, my favorite dangly earring (one of two) – a copper modernist-African thing.

Found: small Asian storage chest, with matching stand – a classic curbside fixer-upper. Fixed, and looking great!

Can I go again?

lost: Round about 50 pounds,

found: Quite a few cat calls

So, can we work out some kind of trade?

Lost: A copy of BANANAS in the late '70s. I can’t seem to forget about it. I think it had Gary Coleman on the cover…? Also, Leo Khmara and Marleena Aratana, 2 D&D characters.

Found: Hmm, most interesting is something I returned. $2,300 in jewelry in a game I purchased on eBay. The owner had hidden it in there about 30 years ago. He was stunned when I called him (after he wouldn’t return my emails).

Lost: Paradise

Found: John Milton, playing craps with Peter the Great in my closet.

Lost: Secret stash of acorns for feeding Barbie, She-Ra, and GI Joe during the winter, circa 1987

Found: A tree
