(I hope that my status as a rampant alcoholic does not prohibit me from posting to this thread.)
7up Gold was intended to be spice flavored, while regular 7up is citrus flavored. I don’t think it really was spice flavored, which might be why it failed. The taste defied simple description, but I liked it a lot. I believe I was one of about 15 people nationwide who did. FWIW, I also dug the new Coke. I know, that’s blasphemy, isn’t it?
But I often choose to do without alcohol, even in social situations where I normally would imbibe.
Perhaps my favorite drink of all is a Virgin Mary sans ice. This is simply a Bloody Mary without the vodka. I like it best when it’s just below room temperature.
“Bloody Mary mix” is always what I ask for on airplanes when the flight attendant comes by with the beverage cart. It’s free! And they always have a can of it.
Since I don’t drink anything alcoholic, my favorites are:
Mountain Dew: The elixer of life IMHO!
Orange Jaritos: I fell in love with this stuff when I went to Mexico 2 years ago and I recently found that our local supermarket sells it. It’s basically orange pop, but without the kick that Orange Crush or Faygo Orange would have. Very flavorful, but it doesn’t kill your tastebuds.
I mostly drink Coke, but I like Crystal Lite raspberry, koolaid, 7-up (not Sprite!), coffee, Sunkist orange, Welch’s grape… just about everything, really, except Pepsi. Yuk! I used to like my coke flavored with Jim Beam, but I haven’t had that in over 11 years.
And who said Josta? One of my mom’s friends (I almost typed “one of my moms”, but that doesn’t quite work) was the one who created that stuff. Originally came in a very unnatural blue color. Terrible stuff. God bless you for consuming it.
Jamaican-style ginger beer! It’s like ginger ale, only spicy. (It mixes well with rum, too, if you decide to be intemperate. That’s dark rum, BTW - that white stuff should be outlawed.)
#1 beverage of choice: Water, with LOTS of ice. Cruched ice, so I can chew on it.
Also:
Iced Tea (not too sweet), Thai Iced Coffee, regular coffee (ground bean only please), and Pepsi.
I almost never drink, but I’ll tell you what’s surprisingly tasty - 1/2 beer and 1/2 MelloYello (or Sprite, Lemonade, 7UP, or whatever you prefer). In Germany I think this is known as a Raddler (Radler? sp?).
And speaking of Germany, anybody ever drink (sp? again) Speize? (pron. schpaytzy)
cruch ice is, of course, disabled ice that has been brutally oppressed. Dire Wolf, you are truly monstrous. My thread has been sullied by your presence.
I drink hot water all day. My favorite soft drink is Vanilla Soda, mmgood. Rootbeer float is as close to beer as I get. Oh, while on the subject of ice cream, anyone else like cranberry juice with ice cream.
