Also the 20,000 figure appears to be for the county as a whole with 12-15k in Springfield proper.

And yet Trump/Vance will almost surely win Ohio.
I’ve been browsing r/ohio the last few days and the sentiment on there seems to be almost 100% supportive of the immigrant community and anti-Trump/Vance. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ohio flips this year because of the hate campaign Vance has been waging against his own constituents.
I did find one cite (I believe from 2022?) where Vance had talked about the infrastructure problems in Springfield due to the large number of immigrants, but I couldn’t find anywhere which showed he actually did anything about these issue.
In my experience, most regional subreddits skew significantly to the left of the general population, so I don’t know that I’d read all that much into that. Would be nice, though.
In my neck of the woods, at least, there are two - r/seattle is the liberal sub and r/seattlewa is the right-wing sub. If the same dichotomy exists in Ohio I’m unaware of it.
One other thing I’ve learned from browsing there is there’s a referendum on the ballot to ban partisan gerrymandering, which I could definitely see driving Democratic turnout.
You know they say that where the right is concerned, every accusation is a confession.
So then, how often are the Republicans stealing and eating their neighbors’ pets?
From here on out, with every question he answers, he should be asked to clarify if it’s the truth or a construct. He should never be given the benefit of the doubt, no matter what he says.
If he has already said that the truth doesn’t matter, why would it matter to him if he lied yet again?
The point is not to clarify whether his statement is truthful or not, it’s to remind everyone listening that he is a wilful and shameless liar.
But not everyone listening thinks that that is a bad thing.
Those people aren’t going to change their minds if it turns out that JD Vance is a cyborg sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor before her son can grow up to lead the resistance against the machines.
The point is to make sure the people who can still be reached see him for what he is.
I think Skynet needs a recall on this particular model.
The Steven Colbert show just showed a clip of JD at a rally today where JD told his audience that Haitians come from Haitia.
I’m not sure how this new information changes things.
I attended a comedy show in Canada where the headliner was an American.
He mentioned how nice it was to be in “Canadia.” Yeah, plenty of loud boos.
He recovered, but it sure wasn’t planned, as the rest of his routine bore out.
It would be very surprising if the state flipped, but anything’s possible.
Up next, he’ll start calling citizens of America Americanians.
It’s bad enough that Trump and Vance are so utterly immoral, but do they also have to be so fucking stupid?
When it comes to hate; sometimes people will purposely use slurs, incorrect, or specifically clinical terminology to signify In-group/out-group status. JD Vance (a Yale Law School grad) 100% knows that the country is Haiti. He is signifying to his supporters (all of whom now know and heard of Haiti) this: “fuck Haiti; I refuse to recognize it accurately”.
This is meta-commentary by JD Vance.
“I’m Ka-MAH-la Harris and I approved this message.”
