The Summer Solstice MMP

**rosie **-is that you???

Yesterday had it’s moments but was still pretty good overall. Especially since my mom and I went to a free tour at my favorite historic theatre and ended up with free tickets to see Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra last night. It was a great show. Although, honestly, I’d sit and listen to anybody if they were playing there.

I hate people.
I hate stupid people.
I hate stupid annoying people.
I hate stupid annoying people I have to work with.
I hate stupid annoy people that I have to work with who can’t follow the simplest of directions.
I hate stupid annoy people that I have to work with who can’t follow the simplest of directions and that almost get me in trouble with security.
I hate people.

Nuts, best wishes for mousie!

Mooom, that is a terrible thing to do to a car. Be strong.

So, Sick Kitty is definitely over the fever, but he’s still very slow and antisocial. Last night I discovered at bedtime that he peed right in the damn middle of my mattress. There are three possible reasons:

  1. (Most likely) He’s afraid of going downstairs to the litter box–he was having a very hard time with the stairs at the height of the fever, and Roomie’s boyfriend is visiting. Poor cat is terrified of man-people, let alone one that chased him all over the house a few hours previous to check if he had a fever.
  2. Revenge for the medicine and the vet trip.
  3. (Least likely) He’s got brain damage from the high fever, and has forgotten litter boxes and their use.

I figure #3 isn’t the case–after I stripped the bed and started the cleaning process, I carried him downstairs and put him in the box. He glared at me, got out, then got back in and peed again. So, at the very least, I know he’s been drinking water. And if he were brain damaged he also wouldn’t remember treats, but he perked right up when he heard me shake the can. I’m just going to be happy the pillow-top on my mattress zips off, so I was able to take it off for cleaning and still sleep on the memory-foam part of the mattress last night. Sirius is now hiding in the guest room, perhaps from his mattress-soiling shame, perhaps from me. I had to go get him for his medicine this morning, and he came right out from under the bed when I held out my hand for him. I felt terrible betraying his trust by immediately squirting antibiotics down his throat, but I’m totally okay with him peeing on the guest bed if he needs more revenge–we need to replace that mattress anyway.

No friend, not at all. I was reading from the bottom up and completely misunderstood what you were saying. I put them there for everyone to enjoy and feel free to do with them whatever you wish. Copy away! (Btw VunderBob, I sent you a PM last night.)

I wish it had been on a more visual part of the ranch though. It’s about as flat as it gets around there and many parts are much more scenic. Darn tornados, not going where we want them to!

… or don’t want them to.

ETA: I asked foreman’s son to check for a path left by the twister. Because of the drought there might not be much evidence but if so and it photographs okay I’ll post it later.

I saw it this morning. The first thing out of my mouth was my customary blurf, and the second was a very audible ‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?’ with all kinds of  for color.

I have 3 shots of a tornado that hit Cottonfield County last week, so I’ll post them tonight after irk. It hit about 12 miles NE of the Property Formerly Known As The VunderLair.

Listening to a podcast. I should be practicing the ukulele.

Good Morning!

It will be a relatively cool 93 degrees today in the little town we live in.

I am so over this working for a living malarky - anyone want to keep me in the manner to which I have become accustomed instead?

The new job and I do not get along. Let me clarify the funtional boss in my new job and I do not get along. I do not like being in the middle of political war/empire building nonsense.

Brightside for today is that is is hump day and the downward slope to the weekend!

I hate tornados.

Glad kitty is better drae

Unfortunately, I just heard from the vet. Sirius has Feline Coronavirus, which often evolves into Feline Infectious Peritonitis, and not only is the outlook not good for him, chances are excellent Khan is already infected, as well. Most cats who progress to FIP die within two to eleven months.

I’m going to go cry in the bathroom now, and then tonight I’m going to take Khan (who is fifteen years old and probably in no condition to fight off a disease he’s already got) to get checked out, too.

Today sucks.

I’m sorry.

Mawnin all

Jim

So sorry to bum everybody out. The vet forwarded some information on the coronavirus, and it’s not quite as bleak as Wikipedia makes it out (go figure). It’s still bad, but there’s the possibility that neither cat (if Khan even has it) will mutate to FIP (which is almost always fatal). So I’m going to try to stay positive, and remember that the good news is that if they both end up terminal, they’ll probably take a lot of my money with them. :stuck_out_tongue:

Again, sorry, that was terrible. I don’t take bad news very well. Sigh.

Cool 93 degrees, ems?

Welcome to Houston, today will have a high of appx. 94f/34c but will feel like 105f/40c. It will be like this well into late September, in fact it is not really hot yet. One of the ways I like to describe Houston is “You better get used to sweating in the shower”

No you never get used to it:rolleyes:
Jim

I am watching Leslie Jordan’s one man show. He is adorable. One of my favorite comedians.

Going downtown soon. Have to get some stuff done. Darn it, I didn’t practice the ukulele enough. :frowning: Maybe if I play the difficult pieces really slowly, people won’t notice that I suck. And maybe I can just play some chords or something and since it’s supposed to just be background music, people won’t notice there’s no tune.

It’s always been my experience that unless you happen to be playing for a group of musicians or serious music lovers, nobody notices the background music other than to say “I think there was background music.” Just have fun.

Well, mousey’s back  She’s dozy, and is not going to be happy about being kept solo for the next week in the tiny tank, (I may let her have a supervised visitor over for a bit- it’s just so the others don’t take her stitch out), but she’s alive and not lumpy any more!

Happy Hump Day!

It’s a breezy 68 degrees outside. I think I will open my window for a while but I’m sure if I turn off the AC and open windows it will set off the HFH again.

My butterfly bush looks so pretty, it’s right in front of my window and it is finally starting to bloom. The poor bush has been beaten down by storms, transplanted twice and we thought for sure it was dead but it always comes back.

There’s a turtle out in the front yard. We don’t see them around very often. He moves along for a bit then stops and lifts his head up above the grass and looks around then moves along some more.
He really needs to stretch his neck up, Sah-son needs to cut the grass. Today might be a good day to do it, not so hot outside.
