Here in Lethbridge, we’ve been dealing with much the same as Calgary; although I have to add that while we had snow warnings last weekend, we had no snow like Calgary did. Still, we’ve had record lows, the tomatoes have been in and out of the garage, and I’m starting to wonder if a real summer will ever arrive.
Same here in north central Iowa. There have been a few nice warm (80 degree) days but mostly we’ve been in the 60’s, with lows in the 40’s. We even ran the furnace a few times. Normally we have the A/C running starting in late May (mostly for humidity but for heat too) but this season we’re getting by with just the dehumidifier. I haven’t put the jackets away yet.
We haven’t had any nice spring thunderstorms either.
In southern Pennsylvania? I’m confused… I’m in Philadelphia and it’s currently around 64 degrees. Granted, it’s muggy, but I still wore a light jacket when I went to work. My sense this year is that spring has been unusually cool, gray, and damp. We did need the rain after a very dry winter, but I’m still wondering when the balmy weather is going to show up.
Yes. It happens quite a lot. Today’s a gorgeous sunny day, for example, and I’m just changing into my shorts to go and play tennis in the park.
I’m about 5000’ below the OP, and while it hasn’t been hot, it also hasn’t been cold. Since January, we’ve had few days that were 10° above normal and few that were 10° below normal. It’s been a pretty awesome spring, to tell you the truth.
The one thig that has been amazing is the rain. We’ve had six days in a row with significant rainfall - 2" since June 1 at the (old) airport - but I’ve had at least double that at my house. This never happens in June in Colorado. Yes, we might get a gully washer of a thinderstorm that drops 2" of rain in an hour or two, but never rain for a week in a row. I can already see the high cumulus clouds developing outside my window this morning.
Going into March we were way behind in snowfall for the year and drought precautions were being put into place. Since than were way above normal and almost four times the average for June only a third of the way in.
Classic La Nina pattern.
Wow, it’s been pretty nice here, then! We’ve had the nights get kind of cold (falling to 5-10C or so) but days have been getting up to at least 16 most days, and the past few have been about 23C. It’s currently 22C with a few clouds, and that’s more or less what we’re expecting to have for the week. I’m loving this weather!
After a cooler than usual Spring, the heat is on in south Texas. We’re having to wait longer and longer each evening before we can relax comfortabluy on the patio. Many of our days are flirting with record highs already.
It’s a long shot but did anyone catch the Weather Channel’s Vortex2 excitement last night around 5:00 to 7:00 pm? Severe thunderstorm with possible cyclicity in S.E. Colorado? Those shale hills in the background underneath the heaviest activity were our ranch. T’was pretty bizarre to see your own place on live TV with excited tornado chasers running about.
Come on over. It’s hotter than two rats screwing in a wool sock here.
Cool! I didn’t catch it, but I watched last week when the tornado formed in Wyoming. They’ll likely be repeating your segment.
That was fascinating, by the way. And educational (the tornado in Wyoming). I’ve watched a lot of storm clouds without a clue about whether it’s the kind of storm that breeds tornadoes. Watching that one gave me a better idea of what to look for, and when to run.
SHHHHH! Do NOT mention the perfect weather. You’re going to scare it away :(.
Nope, south central Idaho. At about 5800 feet. If you ski, you probably know where. I think it’s about 150 miles or so to Nevada from here. You weren’t too far off.
We’ve already gotten more rain than is the usual for June, which is a good thing except that I’m getting damned tired of it doing it every day.
Whoever wants to grow 'maters, ship them over. It’s steamy '80s here. Yuck. I’d take snow anyday. At least you can layer stuff on. There’s only so many layers you can take off without being arrested or scarring the children.
Cooler than usual here, too. That puts us with a highs in the high seventies to low eighties, dropping down into the forties or fifties at night.
My utility bill has been loving it.
