I don’t have the time right now (at work, of course!) to offer cites and references, so I’m a little hesitant about saying this. I usually prefer to present evidence for a statement, and let that speak for itself.
Until I can do so, may I just say that not everybody finds techchick to be delightful.
I find her postings to be mean-spirited, suspicious, self-obsessed and distinctly unfriendly to new members of the boards.
I’ve only been here since January 2001. Perhaps she was extremely generous natured and friendly before then.
I don’t usually play a spoiler role - I would let any other Doper be praised, and if I disagreed, say “well, I just don’t agree” to myself, and leave it there. But this woman made me a target earlier in the year, when I had just come to love reading and participating in this extraordinary enterprise.
The dismissive insult, the dismissive apology, the discouragement I felt - none of them were deserved. She had shit on the liver that day, and I copped a serve (australian slang terms, you can figure out what they mean).
Not good enough.
And, I soon found, not an isolated incident. She has said many unkind things to many others. I have been fascinated by the awfulness of some of her postings, and mystified at the high regard so many Dopers have for her.
I will post again at a suitable time, in an appropriate place, with a concise account. There will be cites and references in abundance.

DDG did a very nice thing here and while I’m sure there are many people who don’t agree with everything techchick says, heck, I don’t, there are good points to everybody and this was to point out hers.
You don’t agree, fine. Don’t post to this. You could very easily have kept it to yourself or posted your dissenting view in the appropriate forum. The Pit.

I agree with Arden Ranger. We’re here to appreciate the lady of the hour, not damn her. You’ve got the right to your opinion, Redboss – but just not here, mate!
Don’t worry Arden hun, I am not stung by what Redboss said, I am simply looking at it as a simple little person needing to let him self known by using my previous biting words I had for him.
Not a big deal really, I speak out now when the mood suits me. I run the gamit (sp) of GQ to IMHO, occasionally in MPSIMS and in The Pit.
Previous to that I have been pretty emotional, or passionate, depending on how you see it. I am okay with that, RB seems to think I am out to make a world of pain…or whatever it is he is thinking which you know is not the case.
For that, if there are any other dissenting words RB (or anyone else for that matter,) please be kind to those that frequent MPSIMS and spare them your thoughts and go to The Pit, the appropriate place for thoughts that can lead to very harsh words.

Unfortunately, DRY, I’m not a very classy person, otherwise I would go back to moping and leave this alone. And I’m peeved. And of course, reading a hijack into an “Admiration” thread like this only serves to make me more…peeved.
I sat here a while, at 3:01 am, drink in one hand and gun in the other, and wondered if there were lower things that could be done on a message board than to hijack an admiration thread with something like this, Redboss. If only you had taken your own advice which you tacked onto the end:

It’s a shame that you don’t even have the option (if you were honorable enough to do it) to apologize, then have the post removed. Hell, since it’s not the policy of this Board to delete out-of-place posts, and let the hurtful things like this that are out-of-place stand, your words will sit here in this thread like the proverbial turd in the punchbowl .
