Wow, the CW is reviving one of my favs from childhood - The Tomorrow People. I adored theoriginal British version, writing fan fiction and slash fic before it was a thing! I know it probably won’t happen, but I hope they use the original theme music.
I saw the title and wondered if it was a remake of the British series. I didn’t get into the original, but I wasn’t their target audience, being in my 20s when it got to the US.
I never saw the original, but I did enjoy the remake in the '90s that was on Nickelodeon.
Interesting development! The early days of Nickelodeon were some of my prime growing up years. Most of the Tomorrow People episodes are on Youtube if you want a nostalgia hit.
Loved the show back when it was on Nick (the original series, that is, not the later version, which I never really watched and what little I did see didn’t look very similar). It was running regularly when we first got cable, and I just couldn’t get enough.
A couple of years ago I downloaded a few episodes of the show. Wow, childhood memories in ruins. Wasn’t very good at all. The fx were particularly laughable, though I guess that’s to be expected from a british kids show of that era.
I do find it interesting how similar a lot of its concepts were to X-men. Even down to using homo superior. I’m betting Chris Clairmont watched this show.
Now, if only they do a remake of that episode with the bubbleskin jumpsuits. That was the first episode I ever caught on Nick, and for some reason has stuck in my memory particularly above the rest.
