The truly great threads in SDMB history

More truly stupid than great, but the colander thread changed my views on kitchen equipment forever. It starts off as an average pit but then somehow transcends into 10 pages of awful colander-as-a-basis-for-wealth-and-privilege jokes. After awhile the word “colander” loses all meaning.

I’m sorry, but you lose points for effort. You and your absurd “bowl” are just going to have to leave. Bowl. Who the fuck needs a bowl when they have a beautiful colander? There’s beauty in sieving, and in sieving, beauty.

Personally, I just make the help cup their hands over the sink while I pour the water out of the pot. Once you’ve tasted authentically hand-strained, you’ll never go back. I swear all other pasta tastes metallic to me now.

I wish people without colanders or people who only have old colanders would stop talking. I was in the same room with a colander once. I know a lot about this.

I hope that annoying person over there has a horrible miscolander and her spaghetti goes all over the floor.
