More truly stupid than great, but the colander thread changed my views on kitchen equipment forever. It starts off as an average pit but then somehow transcends into 10 pages of awful colander-as-a-basis-for-wealth-and-privilege jokes. After awhile the word “colander” loses all meaning.
Since I threatened to add Mongolian BBQ and semen if it continued to blossom, and since it’s been a long time since the most recent post, here’s that bump.

It’s fun reading no matter what, IMHO. 
In case you’re a movie buff, and more particularly one who favors organized governmental violence, you may delight in the 299+ movies already listed at Best All-Time Military Movies – Pre-Poll Data Gathering, along with the spinoff polls coming from it.
This “truly great threads” thread has been sitting idle for too long, so this is a glorified bump.

I must have tried three times before I saw I was in a tight loop. 
The Allan Sherman “Something Called Ulysses” thread is my favorite. Never in my life have I seen someone argue so fervently and strenuously for such an obviously wrong position.

Ain’t it fun? We have had some crazy times here over the years. I do get lost in it myself from time to time. So many of these great wits stepped on their own dicks and got banned. Too sad.
I enjoyed Sauron’s scathing encounter with Emperor of the World. I am quite certain that I too met similar dignitaries.
I’m holding out hope that this one is finally dead. Amazingly, the King has actually posted in other threads. I’m stunned that he didn’t stick to just preaching his pet theory.
Not funny like the others here, but a very entertaining and thought-provoking read for a history buff: the “Worst Military Leader (game thread)”.
It was recently bumped, which reminded me of it.

My life was immeasurably enriched by the thread where a Doper (no longer with us, sadly) was convinced that all the royal families of Europe were actually black. His evidence was a Photo-shopped picture of Obama and the fact that some obscure duke-or-other was referred to as “So-and-so the Black”.
ETA: here we are. Every time I read it, I hear one or more of the crowned heads of Europe taking off her earrings and saying “Oh no you dint!”

The phrase “scrotumy goodness” has stayed with me, lo these ten years and more.
Wow. There is “overthinking” and then there is whatever is going on in that thread, which is a few orders of magnitude greater.
Time for a bump! I came here looking for a specific thread that I would have thought I had mentioned before, but I must not have. If I find it I will!
