The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making Part Deux (Part 1)

Had. I believe they are currently in a bottom drawer at the Kremlin.

The fleas or the brain cells?

My bold.
What constitutes “the end”? How will we know when we have reached it? “Are we there yet?”

Or Biden these days being mocked and called senile by trump supporters because he says things like “100 million” Americans dead from Covid and immediately correcting himself saying he meant “100 thousand”.

The cognitive dissonance of trump supporters to ignore or rationalize away the much worse things trump says is astounding. trump doesn’t just make verbal gaffes, he routinely mangles historical facts and repeats the same easily disprovable lies or nonsensical logic (if we did less testing there’d be fewer cases!). That a certain percentage of the electorate can continue to give him a pass on the increasingly deranged things he says because he shares, or pretends to share their beliefs, is very disheartening. I used to be incredulous at the statistic that something like 45% of Americans did not believe in evolution. I’m guessing the Venn diagram of those Americans and trump supporters is two circles that almost completely align with each other.

Oh yeah? Well, if evolution is real, how come we haven’t evolved away from idiots like Trump? Answer me that, smart guy.

To add to this, I don’t think we’ve seen the worst of the economic consequences. The markets are living in a parallel universe, but the the evictions, the foreclosures, the bankruptcies, and the layoffs are just getting started, and contrary to what’s being reported, I don’t think Trump really offered much in the way of continued stimulus. Wait until late September or early October, which is the time when unstable markets typically begin to nosedive.

I think trump (and some of his supporters) are all the more proof that not only is evolution real, it has a ways yet to go!

It’s because we’re 'Muricans, we can’t be mediocre.

And if we can’t be the best, we have to be the worst.

Middle of the pack doesn’t show off out exceptionalism.

Trump has certainly spent his career turning cataclysmic failure, profound ignorance, and disregard for civility into achievements that he shows off proudly and even brags about.

So these wars were “vicious and horrible” but also beautiful. It sounds like he is running out of words. Before long, his aides will find him in the Oval Office saying “nerk, nerk, nerk, nurk, nirk, nerk”.

Trump is an idiot but I don’t like the focus put on his verbal gaffes. His off-the-cuff confusion of WW I & II is something anybody could do in the glare of lights and I’m sure Biden has done similar.

(Of course the difference is that while Biden would admit that he made a mistake Trump would double down and come up with some cockamamie reason for why he’s right.)

On the other hand, “Biden will double and triple taxes” and “180 million people losing their health care” (from yesterday’s press briefing) is sheer, unmitigated bullshit, and Trump well knows it.

Beautiful wars, big beautiful healthcare…

“You keep using that word. I don’t think it means what you think it means…”

The spirit of former Vice President Dan Quayle salutes you from his seat in Oblivion.

There are a couple more differences. One is the hypocrisy that trump attacks Biden for simple verbal gaffes that he himself makes all the time. The other is that trump, in addition to making plenty of simple verbal gaffes, repeatedly says all kinds of of purely wrong things that are either easily disprovable lies or nonsensical bullshit, and his followers not only give him a pass, they tie themselves in knots to try to explain trump’s BS.

And Biden hurts the bible, hurts God. And he will repeal the 2nd Amendment and take away everybody’s guns on his first day in office . And he will defund and disband the police. And he will destroy the economy. And, and, etc., etc…

The difference is that Trump is too proud and full of piss to acknowledge what he doesn’t know. He’s a total bullshit artist. He bloviates knowing he hasn’t really researched a topic but talks about it like the great bar stool bullshitter he is and then he and his fanboys huff and puff in high dudgeon when he gets called on it. So there is a difference between a serial bullshit web spinner and someone makes the occasional gaffe.

He’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.

You misspelled hamberder.

Doubling high earner income taxes would not be that unreasonable, actually. Bumping up the top marginal rate to being in the 70’s again, as it was in the 60’s and 70’s, would be pretty beneficial given our current fiscal hole in our debt.

Doubling the capital gains rate would also bring it more in line with historical trends.

Ehh, from Trumps point of view it may be true, at least the taxes part. I’ve certainly seen it proposed to tax investment income as regular income. Let’s say Trump is a billionaire and earns 7% on his wealth before taxes. That puts his gross income at 70 million per year and since he’s in real estate that is probably all taxed at 15% (probably lower with his tax dodges) so he’s paying 10.5 mil in taxes currently. If that 70 mil was taxed as regular income it would cost him $25,864,427 so that is certainly in the range of doubling or tripling taxes. Remember Trump only thinks of Trump.
