When I first read that quote, my thought was: “You moron, the Spanish Flu was 1918-1919, and had little if any effect on the end of WWI.”

That’s maybe a slight overstatement. It was responsible for a considerable number of casualties (~1/3 IIRC). That surely had an impact, even if that effect was accelerating or delaying the end of hostilities a few months, even if it wasn’t enough to end the war by itself.

I disagreed with this at first but now I think you are right. Kids are going back to school and getting infected (hundreds in Georgia alone) and Trump tweets that college football season should go on even though the commisioners of the big conferences are starting to question it, and he will continue to tweet until the end that things are going back to normal, and even a certain small percentage of his idiots will see that it is not true. He will continue until election day believing that somehow a great economy will come back and COVID will go away. Hell, it is fucking mid-August already, how time flies In the Time of COVID. I can’t believe it, it seems like a month ago I got the notification from my company that we would be working from home, that was in the first of March.
