Bingo. He never expected to win. He wanted to lose and start the anti-Hillary network that would rival FOX. He’s pissed that his stupid show got canceled. That’s how this entire mess started.

Now that he’s Pres, he has found that he can rape the USA. BUT now he’s under a microscope. The only way to help with some of his legal problems is to remain president and let some statutes of limitations expire. No doubt Barr is counseling him on some of this, and he has his own agenda as well.
No, I think Trump is going to hate being an ex-President. His need for attention is a bottomless pit. Right now, he’s the most famous person on Earth and it’s barely enough to satisfy him. But he’s gotten used to this level of attention. In a year (or five) when he has to go back to being just another famous person, it will no longer be enough for him.
I think you’re crediting him with too much planning ability. I think the core issue is what you noted; Trump needs to have attention.
He wasn’t planning on losing the 2016 election. And he wasn’t planning on winning it either. He was just running for President because that gave him attention and he had no thoughts about what would happen next and what he would do if he won or if he lost.
He treats his presidency the same way. There’s no plan for what happens next. He just says whatever gives him the most attention today. He makes no plans for the future.
ACA? What’s that? I remember seeing a comment somewhere by someone who was against Obamacare and thought it should be repealed. He was going to be fine with that, he said, because he had coverage through the ACA.
While the “c” word isn’t particularly unusually offensive in the UK or Australia it IS considered especially offensive in the US. Given that this forum is US-based with a high percentage of US posters perhaps refraining from it’s use is a good idea. It should appear seldom, IMO.
On the other hand, it is a word I would use to describe the person it was directed to in the possibly-offending post, so I might be guilty of a bit of hypocrisy here.
It’s even worse than that: he’ll never go back to the way things were. None of those celebrities he used to rub elbows with - the only people he ever really cared about - will be coming back to his parties. He’s dead to New York, and to the west coast, too.
That ruling probably won’t stand long. Trump has Kavanaugh on speed dial. Plus what’s the remedy? It’s already been done. I’d like to see Trump punished, fined, and stopped, but that won’t happen.
The sad reality is that stopping testing will work, as far as Trump and his supporters are concerned.
If a woman is pregnant and she doesn’t take a pregnancy test, the truth will eventually come out in the form of a small human being.
But there’s no equivalent reality check for Covid19 testing. Let’s say we’re doing testing and finding that 100,000 people are contracting Covid19 each month and 2000 of these people are dying.
Now let’s say we stop testing for Covid19. How many people contracted Covid19 this month? Nobody knows. And if nobody knows, you can claim it’s zero.
How many people died of Covid19 this month? Again nobody knows. Some people died but people die for lots of reasons. If we didn’t do any tests, nobody can prove they died of Covid19. If you want to claim that Covid19 disappeared, nobody can prove you’re wrong.
Eliminating testing will almost certainly raise the actual numbers. We’ll have 200,000 people contracted the disease each month and 5000 of them dying each month. But the provable numbers will drop to zero.
So right now, there are people in the Trump administration who are asking “Which is worse? A big problem that we’re getting blamed for? Or a bigger problem that we can pretend doesn’t exist?” And I think we all know what answer they’re going to have.
He clearly doesn’t want the attention of SDNY though. But that’s pretty much been his ‘business’ model his entire life. Sue, and sue again until it goes away. He can’t do that now that he’s the Pres. His only escape from some of this is to out run the statute of limitations on stuff. Although the stupid idiot continues criminal behavior. He can’t help it because that’s all he knows.
He’s going to keep on trying and getting in deeper and deeper.
