Those drugs that could cause mania or psychosis – Would those side effects last only during treatment (and perhaps shortly thereafter), or could those be long-lasting or even irreversible effects?
Thate are some drugs out there (unrelated to anything involved here, probably) that can cause irreversible neurological damage like that.
I have never been on dexamethasone but I have been on related steroids for severe allergic episodes.
No, the mental side effects are not permanent, they go away when you get off the medication and it clears your system. I am presuming dexamethasone, being chemically similar and in the same drug category, acts in a similar manner.
Meanwhile, though, the effects can be quite startling.
Now I’m hoping that the doctors pump Trump full of Dexamethasone, and then release him from hospital. Let him go on stage in front of a bunch of his supporters and just go completely off the rails. I mean a total and complete breakdown.
Meanwhile, let’s not forget. Someone’s trying to steal your election from you:
How would we tell the difference between how that and how he normally acts?
I was unaware the virus could infect plastics.
He was high on dexamethasone yesterday in his video before his motor parade. He is in no shape to be president of anything. This is what the 25th amendment is for. It should be enacted.
It should, yes, but it never will be.
How could you tell? Was he acting any different than he always does?
I am really wondering when (if ever) the Trump enablers in the white house and Senate will finally pull the plug. I mean, how far exactly is it going to go? Apparently even Don Jr. is wanting to stage an intervention, and is fighting with Jared and Ivanka over Trump’s increasingly erratic behavior in hospital. They are trying to get him to stop tweeting crazy shit in all Caps.
Seriously, how far will the Republicans let this shit show go on before they invoke the 25th? The longer they let an obviously mentally ill and incapable Trump remain president, the worse and worse they look. Eventually, they will all look like complete and utter idiots, even to some of the more dedicated Trumpers.
It’s an Emperor’s New Clothes situation. It’s just dangerous to be the first person to call it, even when it’s obvious.
From a Vanity Fair article just up:
“Don Jr. has said he wants to stage an intervention, but Jared and Ivanka keep telling Trump how great he’s doing,” a source said. Don Jr. is said to be reluctant to confront his father alone. “Don said, ‘I’m not going to be the only one to tell him he’s acting crazy,’” the source added.
During football last night, I saw an ad for Amy Coney Barrett. Silly me, I didn’t know she was running for office.
If only this was what’s really going on:
Two of her staffers have now tested positive. The Republican Infect-fest just keeps on going and going. That’s what happens when you think you are important, and thus somehow immune to a novel virus.
I imagine these staffers went and infected their family and friends as well.
This is a classic example of a cluster of cases getting much more serious because of the stupidity of a bunch of people ignoring medical advice about a serious communicable disease.
To me, the bigger surprise is that it didn’t happen much sooner.
The White House situation right now strongly reminds me of Poe — specifically, The Masque of the Red Death. Trump’s people also thought they could hide in their castle while the little people suffer. Guess none of them ever read far enough into that story to find out how it ends.
White House administration staffers are now working from home. I don’t blame them.
I was gonna say, “So much for the reptiloid hypothesis,” but I like yours better.
