The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making Part Deux (Part 1)

Where did you hear this?

I noticed an odd thing. Tonight I went in to yahoo and there was very little Trump. A Ctrl-F yielded 4 hits for “Trump.” If the headline says “Trump…” and the article says “President Trump today…” then it’ll hit twice, right? They keep stories on for a day or two and I bet yesterday there would have been 40-50 hits on “Trump.” I think he wants to keep stirring the shit, stay on the lips of Americans.

Just now: 0 hits. Whisky Tango Foxtrot?

Several places.

Campaigning in Arizona, Veep and Second Lady boarded Air Force Two to return to DC around 3 PM.

Thank you.

…There were also some cryptic comments from Nancy Pelosi today. She told reporters during her weekly press conference at the Capitol on Thursday to come back Friday because she said, “We’re going to be talking about the 25th Amendment.”

The amendment deals with Presidential succession in the case of death or disability.

She also earlier said this:

“The president is, shall we say, in an altered state right now,” Pelosi said on Bloomberg TV. “I don’t know how to answer for that behavior.”

MSNBC, beginning of Maddow.

ETA: Sorry for the slow response, Czarcasm. I stepped away to start making dinner.

Trying not to get my hopes up. I wondered about Pelosi’s comments and if it was the right thing to do politically. Trump is clearly more unfit than ever but no way are the Republicans going to do anything. Unless he is stark raving mad and even then some would defend him. There is something to be said for doing the right thing and holding hearings or whatever to find out answers about Trump’s condition, what meds he is on etc. But will they be able to even get that information?

Bottom line, I am just afraid , nay terrified, of anything that might help Trump gain some votes.

I saw the bit about Peolsi talking about the 25th, but I don’t understand why she would be involved unless it was actually a done deal about being invoked.

She would be the one that the message is transmitted to, not anyone making the decision. Maybe there were some people telling her that she needs to stay alert for the possibility? Or were there laws passed by Congress so that there is an “other body Congress may by law provide”?

No. What she is doing is proposing a law to create such a body. It has no chance of passage, but will serve to focus attention on Trumps health (physical and mental).

:open_mouth:

Nancy has cast iron balls.

I don’t think it’s anything to do with the 25th.

First, I don’t think Nancy Pelosi would even hint at such a thing before it was completely accomplished.

Second, I don’t think they even have enough Senate-confirmed cabinet members to do the 25th, do they? (I haven’t counted.)

Third, it was strongly suggested that Pence is returning to the White House at Trump’s behest. That’s what gave me the bad feeling.

Two things happening today that I found troubling: One was Trump’s growing ire at Christopher Wray, who is obviously making his move against thing loathsome “administration”; the other was Trump’s open exhortations to Bill Barr to make a move. Barr also loosened the rules at the DOJ about doing controversial things close to an election.

My fears are centered on either a top-level firing or arrests.

This is part of something I just posted in another thread —

It’s about something the DOJ did today that REALLY might have pissed Trump off - they indicted one of his best friends, who was also a big RNC and Trump campaign money man.

Imagine that you are Trump. You are expecting the DOJ to indict Obama or at least Comey. And you are all hopped up on steroids and Fox News. Then you find the DOJ indicted one off YOUR cronies. It really might be related

In any other time, this would’ve been bigger news, but you may not hear much because Broidy isn’t a household name. He was finance chair of the RNC from 2005 to 2008. He was convicted of bribery and corruption in 2009 a felony conviction that was later reduced to a misdemeanor in exchange for ratting out his cronies.

He was big fundraiser for Trump and the RNC in 2016, and was made deputy chair of the RNC in 2017-2018. He quit after a scandal in which he paid off a Playboy Playmate 1.6 million to shut up a put their affair. Apparently it’s much more profitable to screw Broidy than it is to screw Trump.

He’s also apparently one of Trump’s closest friends. Today’s indictment was for trying to sell access to Trump to some foreign criminals that needed the USA’s help in evading the law. And the thing I found funny about that was that he couldn’t do it. This guy gave his all to fill Trump’s coffers for years and all he asked was that Trump play one lousy game of golf with some foreign embezzler that wanted to pitch some shade to get Trump to intervene in his prosecution. Broidy took 8.5 million dollars from the guy and got nothing but run-around from WH staff for months.

This is how Trump pays back his friends.

But I wonder if it’s related. More fun if Broidy’s cutting a deal.

Yeah, I posted about it earlier in this thread. Post #4644.

Things move fast in this thread, I know.

Oh I missed it. Do you think might be related to Pence feeling he needs to stick around? Did it make Trump that crazy?

No, I don’t think it’s this. Broidy has been under investigation for a long time and his arrest is hardly unexpected.

Plus Trump can always dangle a pardon as a basis for Broidy to keep his trap shut. Although it may already be too late for that, since he’s expected to enter a plea in only 12 days. His Queen for a Day interlude would have long ago come and gone. And it’s unlikely he would have been offered a plea deal without having given up something of more value.

No, Trump has been frantic recently over Christopher Wray’s defiance, and Barr’s failure to arrest Obama/Biden/Clinton officials for “Russia-gate.” I think it’s to do with one of those things. John Brennan, Pete Strzok, Andrew McCabe and – irony of ironies – James Comey are the ones I’m most worried for.

Just a gut feeling, though.

On the same day that the FBI announced that they had arrested people for plotting to kidnap and murder Gretchen Whitmer, Individual 1 attacks her.

Sitting here in Indiana the news did announce that Pence cancelled his planned visit to Indianapolis for early voting tomorrow, but no reason was given. So definitely the trip is cancelled. Why I don’t, personally, know.

I suspect it may have something to do with this:

Pelosi: ‘We’re going to be talking about the 25th Amendment’

Guaranteed to make Trump crazy, though I don’t think there’s any hope of getting it through Congress.
