The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making Part Deux (Part 1)

I don’t think that’s the right interpretation. There’s a CT on the right that Biden is a trojan horse to get Kamala and The Squad in power. Trump is just feeding that theory.

To be fair, Democrats do this too. Romney was hammered for being too conservative.

pretzels

it hurts my head

I mean, fuck.

I like how they’re quoting that well known epidemiologist, Ivanka Trump.
“Over the past four years, President Trump’s policies and investments in science and technology ensure America stands ready to solve today’s most pressing challenges and that our workforce is prepared for tomorrow’s innovations,” Ivanka Trump said. “For years to come, these achievements will guarantee the United States remains the world’s leader in research, discovery and the advancement of industries that will shape our future.”

I interpreted “Joe’s shot” a totally different way.

I didn’t see it as a literal reference to Biden actually being killed. I interpreted it as a slang term meaning due for replacement. Much like how someone might say “my brakes are shot” about a car that needs repair.

I hate having to defend Trump at all, but I think you had the wrong meaning here.

As much as I am loath to admit it, that was my read too.

Ah, but how do you suppose all the MAGA-heads and Proud Boys and 3-percenters, etc., interpret when they hear that? Dog-whistle, anyone?

I think you give Loser Donald too much credit.

That’s certainly possible. I’m no fan of his, but I do think he’s capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time. He may not possess a great deal of book smarts, but he can be quite cunning at times. Look at the way he’s systematically undermined the basic tenets of democracy.

In the same way a bull systematically destroys a china shop. It’s the people who put him there that are the ones with the strategy of destruction; all he has to do is be himself and chaos ensues.

Right, but the bizarre part (well, one of them) is in linking Harris to the Squad. The only connection is that they’re women of color, so the assumption of a link is predicated on some amount of racism and misogyny.

Well, yeah. Of course all Black non-white women are alike, think alike, dress alike, wear their hair the same (or cover it up), and move, talk, and vote in one unified block. The fact that Michelle Obama isn’t like them is conclusive proof that Michelle is really a man. Q.E.D.

My God.

Trump’s rally in Omaha last night had them bus hundreds of people 3.7 miles from the parking lot to the rally location.

But the Trump team made no plans on getting them back, stranding them. Many attempted to walk back, but in the end, at least 7 people were transported to the hospital, dozens had to be treated for hypothermia, and the Omaha PD had to order buses from the Omaha transit authority to assist these people.

Linked is a tweet thread from someone monitoring the Omaha police scanner. Pretty crazy shit!

This encapsulates this presidency in some many ways.

An attendee from trump’s Omaha rally had no comment…

They will still vote for him.

Assuming they survive his rally.

Or didn’t catch COVID or another bug after being crammed in the bus and the rally with a bunch of unmasked people who were screaming and hollering.

They will blame some lackey for poor planning instead of blaming Trump for not giving a shit about them once they stopped cheering and making him feel good about himself.

I’m curious (and couldn’t find the answer in a cursory search) whether women are less likely to be a primary income generator in self-identified conservative households. My uninformed suspicion is that the image of the strong male figure taking care of the women-folk, which is still embraced overtly and covertly across the political spectrum and across genders, thrives much more strongly among conservatives/Republicans than others.

So, yes. Maybe not so crudely, but that’s actually how lots of people, men and women, feel.

If this Washington Post article is correct, it’s not that the campaign made no plans for getting them back; it’s that the road was throttled to one-way after the rally in order to let people out, but this meant that the buses couldn’t get back in to pick people up. I’m assuming it’s the local police who make those sorts of traffic decisions, but it’s not clear from the article who’s to blame.

Can’t wait for 11.8.2020 when Google pics, Facebook, etc all ask me to ‘remember this day four years ago’. :face_vomiting:
