Well, gosh, I would fucking hope so. Whatever the politics, stay the hell away from minor children.
God, this can’t be happening. We’re all trapped in some kind of scifi, nightmare, collective dream, right? Any minute now, everyone will snap out of it and see that trump wasn’t elected-- or even ever BORN!– COVID never happened, TubaDiva is in the pink of health… none of this stuff ever happened… right? Please…
Maybe he meant the Vietnam War was Swiftian? Bitterly ironic?
A hoax pulled them out of the woodwork on July 4, but I figure these are the same people who will converge on the White House to protect their leader when he loses the election.
…As word spread, self-proclaimed militias, bikers, skinheads and far-right groups from outside the state issued a call to action, pledging in online videos and posts to come to Gettysburg to protect the Civil War monuments and the nation’s flag from desecration. Some said they would bring firearms and use force if necessary.
On Saturday afternoon, in the hours before the flag burning was to start, they flooded in by the hundreds — heavily armed and unaware, it seemed, that the mysterious Internet poster was not who the person claimed to be.
…
The first time I floated this as a possibility, I was scoffed at. But as the political climate becomes ever more toxic, I can see it happening.
I don’t think that’s exactly correct. If one reads the statements that precede this one, one can see that he’s talking about our military aircraft and the battles in which they’ve been used.
Here’s the full passage from the speech:
In a few moments, we will bear witness to awesome aircraft representing every major military conflict over the last 75 years. These planes once launched off massive aircraft carriers in the fiercest battles of World War II. They raced through the skies of Korea’s MiG alley. They carried American warriors into the dense fields and jungles of Vietnam. They delivered a swift and swip…you know that, sweeping … It was swift and it was sweeping like nobody’s ever seen anything happen. A victory in Operation Desert Storm. A lot of you were involved in that. A lot of you were involved. That was a quick one. And they’ve gone on to dangerous missions all around the world to take out enemy terrorists and bring our soldiers home safely.
It’s still word salad, but it makes a little more sense.
On this Fourth of July weekend, can we put aside our partisan blinders for a moment to remember what President Trump told us last year, in his inspiring tribute to the soldiers of the Revolution.
It doesn’t get better than that: defeating Cornwallis at Yorktown, taking over the airports, and fighting the War of 1812, all at once!
Thank you, Mr. President!

Well, if I were a particular type of devious person, and I wondered exactly who is so far gone on the Trump-ade that they might actually turn up for such an event, then I might push this kind of hoax out into the Trumpy ozone. Then I might take a lot of surreptitious photos.
If I happened to have access to facial recognition software, I might be curious to learn who is willing to lead violent insurrections in the name of free-dumb. I might be especially interested to learn this if I were in charge of maintaining a peaceful transition of power in, say, January 2021.
Just a thought.
If I were the prayin’ sort, I’d say a prayer for Chris Wray.
Hell, the Brits were damn lucky we didn’t nuke 'em!
Sure. Just to mock them – to get them to rush all over the place desperately trying to live out their TV-movie fantasy in which they “save America,” but only to be exposed as the dumb-fucks which they really are.
Is preventing a flag burning a insurrection? You may be violating someone’s right to protest, but I don’t believe that is an effort to take over the government.
“I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am.”
No, preventing a flag burning is not a violent insurrection and I would never want the rights of those who profoundly object to the action of flag-burning to have their voices silenced – even if flag-burning is perfectly legal, as it has been determined to be. Unless guns are used to prevent it. And when guns are present, the likelihood increases that guns may be used.
I’m not saying the guv’mint would be strictly justified in doing what I suggested. But making observations isn’t illegal, either. Neither is taking photographs of an event, even if done by a law enforcement agency. Such things are done now and then.
And if I were concerned about those same vigilante types taking up arms and actually using them at a more overheated event, such as the transfer of power from one “president” to another president, I might want to know just who may show up to that event.
Just to add some perspective, the FBI is already identifying and contacting those whom they believe are instigators of the antifa movement. When contacted, these folks have often never heard of antifa.
Infers self introspection which is not in evidence.
If ever there is a… second Civil War. All we have to do is have these morons drive all over chasing imaginary battles. That’ll keep 'em busy. We can stay home and relax. Thank you Twitter!
I just wonder how bad things will get if groups like that meet up with groups like this.
Thanks Railer. Trump is enough of a moron that we don’t need to make stuff up.
Not good.
I am afraid, very afraid, it is not if but when. And if guns are fired, and it is the white Boogaloo boys against Black “Antifa” members, who do we think most of the country is going to support?
Trump wants a race war. Whatever it takes for him to retain power. I hope people won’t give him what he wants.
The way he’s talking the last day or so is really making me nervous.
Yep. I have said before that I can’t imagine what would happen to cause Trump’s approval rating to go up. There is not going to be an economic miracle, he is not going to suddenly admit he was wrong about COIVD and start to do what every sane person in the world thinks he should do. A thousand of miles of wall are not going to be built, and manufacturing jobs in the northeast are not coming back.
There is one thing that gives me comfort, about a possible race war. I am from southwest Virginia, near Roanoke. In Pulaski county, which is near there, there are some Boogaloo boys. A couple of months ago, when the Governor imposed a stay at home order, one of them tweeted that he should watch out, that there was a storm brewing in southwest Virginia. Another quoted Jefferson about the tree of liberty being watered with the blood of tyrants.
But if it ever came down to it, if these bozos were ever in a situation where they might have to risk their lives for their cause, I think they would run away like whiny little bitches. I’ve seen pictures of them, walking into a 7-11 with rifles strapped across their back. Big bad men defending their right to not wear a mask.
The other thing is that there just aren’t that many armed “Antifa” members patrolling the streets. This is the first I have heard of it. But it only takes one confrontation with bullets flying before marial law is declared.
