In general, they are opposed to carrying guns. But they will use violence defensively if attacked first.
Regular local and federal law enforcement will be responsible for sorting out these conflicts if they occur. Anyone who is illegally brandishing or firing guns is subject to arrest and prosecution.
I do recall a big white nationalist rally that was supposed to convene on Washington DC a few years ago, some million-man-redneck gun fest. It rained. Only a very few showed up. I believe it was someone here on the Dope who observed their motto must be, “Live free or dry.”
It’s interesting how you can pretty much see what the original script was and see when Trump stumbled. And it’s scary to see how he was unable to recover after he made what should have been a minor mistake.
Looks like it’s this from a WaPo story of the Marching Militia Morons who got duped by a story about flag burning.
As the 3 p.m. start time for the planned flag burning approached, there was no sign of Alan Jeffs or of busloads of antifa members.
Suddenly, by the statue of Lee, a biker shouted that he had gotten an alarming call. Someone was preparing to burn a flag, after all, he said. Scores of people jumped on their bikes and roared toward the cemetery.
There, they learned it was not the threat they imagined.
A man had entered the cemetery wearing a Black Lives Matter T-shirt. The man, Trent Somes, later told The Post he was visiting the grave of an ancestor, not protesting. A seminarian and associate pastor at First United Methodist Church in Hanover, Pa., Somes said a crowd of about 50 people surrounded him and aggressively questioned him about his shirt.
“I didn’t do anything to them,” he said.
Police arrived and encouraged Somes to leave.
“For his own safety, federal law enforcement made the decision to remove him, and he was escorted out of the cemetery,” Jason Martz, acting public affairs officer for Gettysburg National Military Park, later said.
No doubt to the cheers of the boogaloo crowd. Well done, police!
(Although I am curious about the numbers. If there were two cops and “scores” of armed bikers, what else could they have done? Called in massive reinforcements and provoked a riot by attempting to arrest the lot? As fun as that might have been to watch …)
That is the response that Dear Leader Trump has called for when there are disruptive protesters. These Marching Militia Morons should have been pepper sprayed and shot with rubber bullets. And if they had fired a shot, they should have been met with proportionate force.
I’d say call in an airstrike if I was in charge, but I confess I may be going a little over the top.
That cop was a complete dick – calling on Somes to de-escalate instead of the dozens of MAGAts berating him. I sincerely hope this was his last weekend on the job.
