The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making Part Deux (Part 1)

If you have access to WAPO, this is an even better piece on the same subject (I didn’t use it as the cite/link above since it’s probably paywalled).

Sir, I insist you apologize for viciously defaming the honor of noble brassica rapa rapa.

Many rivers to cross.

Just to get back to the buses. The articles state that there were 25,000 people at the rally and 40 buses. Assuming that these are large buses that seat 60 people, that is 2400 people per trip which means that each bus would need to make 10 trips to get everybody back to the parking lot. If it is 2.5 miles away with an average of 30 mph that is 10 minutes per trip. Add another 10 minutes for loading and unloading means 20 minutes per trip x 10 trip means > 3 hours to transport all the people. That is not good planning.

Point taken. I fear that this is a case where all analogies must fail. My first thought was to compare him to a sewer rat rather than defile your beloved turnip, but that analogy holds only in respect to his ethics. On the intelligence scale, rats are actually quite bright, relatively speaking.

I’ll never get a better opening than this. This is from the “You Think You’ve Had a Bad Day” Department.

On Saturday just past noon, Leonard Shoulders strolled up to a bus stop in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. A handful of people stood around, waiting for their rides or looking down at their phones — an unremarkable scene.

But then a hole suddenly opened up on the sidewalk and Mr. Shoulders, 33, plunged into it. Stunned bystanders who rushed to the edge of the chasm faced a ghastly sight: Mr. Shoulders had dropped 12 to 15 feet into an underground vault teeming with rats.

“Rats crawling on him, he can’t move,” his brother, Greg White, told CBS New York. “He didn’t want to yell because he was afraid there were going to be rats inside his mouth.”

For about 30 minutes, Mr. Shoulders remained in the vault as firefighters tried to pull him out of the hole. Videos of the scene show him eventually being wheeled away on a stretcher by emergency workers. He suffered injuries to his head and arm, Mr. White said.

:scream:

Returning to your regularly scheduled program.

I’m confused about the number of attendees because I’ve read that reporters estimated more than 6000 attendees while apparently the campaign claims 29,000. That could be outdated or incorrect information.

You couldn’t fit 25,000 people in that hanger if they stood on each others shoulders. 7000 is probably closer to correct

Snakes Rats! Why did it have to be snakes rats!

The campaign is probably counting everyone who requested a ticket, much like the 8 million people who went to the Tulsa rally.

Yes. There is nothing that is not defamed by being compared to CFSG. Not pond scum, not toxic black mold, not that slime you get on the lawn if you fail to get up all the walnuts. Even asbestos is more laudable.

Isn’t Pence gonna do the Big Fib on Jan. 6?

Earworm! (but a good one)

So I was right! Florida wasn’t so named after the flamingos!

Yes. This thread ain’t done yet. The clusterfucking isn’t over until January 20 (if then).

On Wednesday a Trump rally was announced for Friday afternoon (10/30) at the Rochester Minnesota airport. The mayor is pissed, the state AG is involved, with Minnesota wanting the rally to follow the emergency orders in place.

By Thursday afternoon the rally got moved to a small town 20 miles away, to be held at a manufacturing facility owned by a very religious company (rumor was they were going to give their employees a paid day off so they could attend the rally. ) I assume the small town mayor wasn’t going to be as fussy about the state orders. Then supposedly the state AG (Democrat Keith Ellison) asked for their pandemic plans as required.

Now Thursday evening, the rally got moved back to Rochester, closed to the public. The campaign is stating that they will abide by crowd size rules (250). My bet is Trump will have a fit and cancel the whole thing. It would be a silly trip anyway, since Minnesota will most likely go for Biden.

Word.

I attended an air show in Waco, TX one time in conditions about as described for the Trump rally in question, and had to leave after about an hour as I was on the verge of heat exhaustion. Wasn’t no geezer, either, although currently I’m rapidly reaching that status.

Reminds me of a Fran Lebowitz line - the outdoors is what you cross to get from your apartment to a taxi.
