I bet Trump had people calling every “sympathetic” world leader they could think off to beg for congratulations, and the Slovenian was the only one stupid enough to bite.
Okay, but I was writing about the way toadies see their bullies, rather than attempting to provide a psychological profile of bullies. I still maintain that Trump is unusual among bullies-who-acquire-toadies, in that his public image, worldwide, is that of an obviously unimpressive and openly pathetic person—one who is relentlessly mocked and ridiculed globally.
The point I was originally going for was that this state of affairs must be puzzling for those who would aspire to succeed him, as the object of veneration of his current base. Do they try to emulate his childishness and whining? Or do they try to project a conventional ‘dominant and unwavering’ image?
“We’re not going to control the pandemic,” Meadows said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Oct. 25.
That’s one promise that the Trump administration is keeping.
From the link:
“Meadows was also among those in the East Room of the White House when Trump gave remarks around 3 a.m. Wednesday to a crowd of about 150 of his top aides, donors and allies, as well as family members. During that event, Meadows worked the room extensively, without a mask, speaking to dozens.”
It’s obvious they believe that Covid is no big deal. Trump survived it, so you might as well just catch it and get it over with. That’s seems to be how they think about it.
Is it schadenfreude if they do catch it and aren’t admitted to the presidential suite at Walter Reed with dozens in attendance but instead wind up in Medstar waiting for hours because ER is overwhelmed (again)?
