It’s not Trump paying (which of course is impossible). The campaign has probably paid for some stuff at some point time (but I have no cite, so could be wrong).
My guess is that they’ll dig it up and then suspend work until Jan 20, and then refuse to pay for finishing it.
Well, to be accurate, we could say that the Trump campaign is hiring people to do the work, after which they will refuse to pay them.

I think the lawn got torn up during one of Trump’s campaign things and the campaign was supposed to pay to fix the damage. Of course, I didn’t believe that they actually would show any responsibility at all, but its possible I was wrong.

I will say that I don’t think Trump is classy enough to actually finish the job. He’s the sort who will leave butt flowers on the wall before grabbing up all the silver and bolting for the door, toilet paper stuck to his shoe.
But there’s no skin off his nose if he fixes the lawn. It’s not him that’s paying for it, it’s all the rubes who donated (and are still donating) to his campaign.
That’s my thought. My money is on the lawn being torn up until late 01/21,because its a small spiteful action like that of a toddler ripping up something nice just because he can.
