CIte? The last I saw on CNN (probably Monday) they commented that Biden and his transition team were receiving the daily intelligence brief. It was part of the story about his beefed Secret Service detail and the launching of his transition team (albeit without the money they should be getting).
I thought even presidential candidates who have not yet won election get the intelligence briefs. Biden should definitely be getting at least that, although if trump could stop it I bet he would!!
“Intelligence” briefings, not “intelligent” briefings, which of course Trump could not do.
According to NPR and other sources, as of yesterday, Biden was NOT receiving the briefings:
The petulant man-child is thus jeopardizing national security, since he himself can’t or won’t read, and is at any rate incompetent and doesn’t give a shit.
That’s why I thought he would still be getting them. I think I remember that Hillary and trump were both getting briefings in 2016 as just candidates. But of course that was back in the olden days when a crazy petty tyrant was NOT at the helm.
I wonder if Biden makes it to certification/safe harbor date despite trumpian shenanigans, will he be “ascertained,” or will trump shut him out until Biden is inaugurated?
IIRC, All candidates start getting some sort of security briefing once they win their primaries. That’s standard and if that hadn’t happened I think we would’ve heard about it.
But I think they are supposed to start getting more detailed info once they are President-Elect and that’s what the baby is holding up.
Just to add to the point, since I can’t go back and add to my previous post … below is a good summary of Trump’s own chaotic transition in 2016, which can be briefly summarized as follows: he didn’t believe he needed one at all, and had to be reminded that it was required by law (to which his response was “I don’t give a fuck about the law”). He felt he could just ooze into the Oval Office and start doing whatever the hell he wanted. The real money quote about the transition, which comes from Bannon, applies equally to Trump’s entire presidency: “I was fucking nervous as shit,” Bannon later told friends. “I go, ‘Holy fuck, this guy [Trump] doesn’t know anything. And he doesn’t give a shit.’”
