This seems like a public go-ahead for Republicans in the Senate to vote to convict. If the leader is saying this out loud, maybe others will find the testicular fortitude to start saying it out loud too.
William Barr, the former attorney general, said in an interview that was broadcast Monday night that doubts raised about the legitimacy of the Nov. 3 election results “precipitated the riot” at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
But Barr did not discuss the role that he played in undermining the integrity of the election. He had spent months sowing concerns that the results would be rife with fraud because of the rise in the number of people voting by mail amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Yep, those statues are very similar to the ones I’ve seen and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same artist. It’s absolutely criminal though that they didn’t include the dinosaurs on the walking tour, those are the best ones!
I was on the phone with a coworker in India today, comparing vaccine distribution challenges. I commented “it’s all being run on the state or local level today, but it could completely change tomorrow.”
He laughed - “yeah, things change fast.” I had to clarify, no, I’m being literal. It really could all change tomorrow.
Exactly this. There are a fair number of politically aspiring mental defectives out there realizing that a fellow imbecile just like themselves managed to get elected president, and they’re trying to tap into the magic formula, as best as they understand it. They certainly perceive White supremacism and xenophobia as being a big part of it.
Hell, Jamie Dimon isn’t stupid and had the same thought a few years back. I wouldn’t be shocked if he still thought the US wanted a CEO POTUS (a real one this time).
Well, if I saw a candidate or measure that I favored was losing, I think it would motivate me to go vote and to urge others to do so as well. But if my preference was winning, I, personally, would go vote in support, though others might feel complacent, which could be dangerous. It would take a few cycles for voters to get used to such a system.
I think it was Chris Hayes tonight (or maybe it was a guest) who remarked that McConnell is being very canny and careful in his phraseology here.
He admits that Trump “provoked” the mob, but he did not say that Trump incited the riot.
This lets him publicly disapprove of Trump while still being able to vote against impeachment because what Trump did was only provoke, not incite, so it doesn’t rise to the level of an impeachable offense.
It’s almost a wrap, folks. How about we guess the book titles to be published by people involved in this clusterfuck?
