Probably but I think the wing nut noise wouldn’t worth it, just makes sure the protection is minimal and any money spent for bathroom breaks and off duty rest spots is directed to local businesness etc not the grifters and their friends .
The money quote from that article “ A lot of YouTube journalists have just lost a hell of a lot of credibility.”
They’re just learning that EVERYTHING TRUMP TOUCHES DIES. There’s a whole shitload of morons that thought they were getting pardons - not just for the actual attack that was the culmination of the insurrection plot, but for swearing out false affidavits regarding election fraud and the whole STOP THE STEAL fraud.
I’m pretty sure that Guiliani and friends were hinting at pardons for these people, they were just too locked into the “I must be telling the truth because I swore this affidavit on penalty of perjury, why would I risk jail” narrative.
Oh, and I hope his does start his Patriotic Constitution Party or Constitution Patriots Party or whatever name his kids come up with…please please please please please.
The Republicans are going to learn what we’ve all known from Day One, EVERYTHING TRUMO TOUCHES DIES. it was inevitable— they bent one little rule for him, and started down the path, never realizing that all Trump saw was the last thing you did, or didn’t do.
They spent four years slavishly lapping the shit of his shoes, but he’s not going to remember any of that. Because he’s…what that word you Republicans coined…transactional. And all he’s gonna remember is that last transaction, the one where you couldn’t make him king and humiliated him in front of the entire nation.
This is a guy that’s still fuming because 32 years ago some magazine editor said his fingers were short.
He’s going to do his best to destroy the Republican Party. Either he’ll succeed or he’ll find he fell so far so fast that he can’t even muster his base, the #TrumpArmy he refused to pardon.
I’m not sure which way it will go down, but either way it will be delicious!
Yeah. To use the analogies above, he may be no longer shitting on our heads (for the moment) but there’s still all these shit-piles that need to be shoveled up all over the place.
At his farewell speech, the organizers played a weird mix of music, including “Fortunate Son”, which is about how a rich man’s son gets special treatment, and “YMCA”. Newsmax even tried some explanation as to what YMCA might mean to Individual 1 personally.
It might be as simple as the hand gestures that everyone does when the song plays. Trump doesn’t care about the lyrics or the meaning, just that it engages a crowd.
It’s like trying to explain the logical reason why Grandpa is wearing his underpants on his head; You can make the attempt, but you look like a moron for trying.
I would be very interested in knowing just how much this is costing taxpayers. It sure seems like a significant monetary grab. Surely this “billionaire” and his children can afford their own competent security detail.
Why should this be relevant in deciding whether or not they should receive ongoing govt protection?
All ideas of politics, blame, fault and everything else aside - if protection is “needed” due to a role you had in govt, shouldn’t the govt be responsible for that protection?
I think a reasonable question to ask is: Why is protection needed for THESE people, when it was not required for other adult children of former presidents? Is it simply that blatant nepotism put them in positions of influence for the last 4 years?
Only one of his children had a role in government.
The law determined that Secret Service protection was needed for six months. Why should Trump get to just decide, with no oversight, that it should be double that time period for his children?
