I’m not sure what to make of Pompeo’s declaration so I’ll just ask: is there a lot of stuff that automatically kicks in when a country is declared to have committed genocide? I’ve seen cases in my own country where obvious genocide is not officially declared because because it commits the government to certain actions.
To the extent that is makes countries reluctant to call out blatant genocide that’s regrettable but is that what’s behind this? Does the declaration commit the Biden administration to anything and was it done entirely to cause trouble?
It’s done entirely to cause trouble. Biden doesn’t “have” to do anything. But if China wants to make an issue of it Biden will either have to state there’s no genocide, which a lot of people will consider weak, or say there is, which China will claim is a great insult. This is the kind of issue where, whether it’s the best approach or not, international diplomacy leans towards “let’s just agree to disagree and not bring it up.”
The irony, of course, will be when all those wealthy people have to abandon their coastal property because of rising sea levels to the climate change they deny is happening.

Major, the youngster, was adopted in 2018 from the Delaware Humane Association (DHA), making him the first shelter dog to enter the White House. According to a recent news article, to celebrate Major’s new home, the DHA hosted a virtual “indoguration” for their alumnus last week, which included celebrity appearances and raised more than $200,000 for the shelter.
The Orange Fuck was once asked about why no dog in the White House, and he replied “How would I look walking a dog on the White House lawn?”. This led to a series of “Dog Lovers for Joe” campaign ads.
Just one more indication of the complete character change from a vindictive narcissistic orange asshole to a kind and gentle human being.
I mean, Mr. Carter was raked and repudiated for his failed presidency, and he was a good and decent man. Mr. Loser lost because he was a weak and pathetic loser. It might not be entirely fair, inasmuch as his breeding and upbringing left him unable to cope with what he got himself into, and his makeup made it impossible for him to gracefully escape the dilemma. But, given how he seems to be entirely unable to treat others fairly, fuck it, he is Mr. Loser.
I read something recently suggesting that many of these billionaires are in fact investing in inland properties. Climate change of course is a Chinese hoax, as the orange “stable genius” has informed us more than once. The problem is that the wily and inscrutable Chinese are apparently raising sea levels in an attempt to lend credence to the hoax, and the inscrutable Chinese hoax will flood half of Florida and much of the US coastline before the end of the present century.

I wonder if Trump read Rex Stout’s Nero Wolfe stories. Wolfe had a button he pushed when he wanted Fritz to bring him beer. On a tray, of course. (he also used it for surreptitious signalling)
