I wondered why the five words Trump claimed were the ones he was asked to repeat were so closely related! Every sample version I’ve seen or heard described, gives five unrelated words—not a set of three related words (person man woman) and then a set of two related words (camera TV).
Your suggestion makes a lot of sense. I bet you’re exactly right!
The actual MoCa or Mini-Mental State Exam will use unrelated items–otherwise, the relationship makes them easier to remember. Lion, piano, cactus, yes. Mother, sister, dancer, no. ETA: Trump’s list isn’t related to an actual MoCA question.
Plenty of people I’ve tested do just fine on MoCA or MMSE. The items are pulled from larger neuropsych tests, so the examiner can refer the examinee for either general or specific texting for more detail and confirmation of the findings. I haven’t had anyone ask for pen and paper, but lots of people sketch numbers and words in the air or on the table with a finger, which is acceptable.
The hilarious thing about that interview was, the five words Trump used, he was just naming things in his immediate area. “Person, woman, man, camera, TV.” Lol
In the real test, the five words are not related. It more like: “Box, extravagant, sweet, mail, shoulder.”
