Jacket or no jacket (who wears a fucking jacket along the border in June?!)…her presence was enough spit in everyone’s eye.
Children want to see their parents; instead, they see the woman who is called our first lady (a woman who violated our immigration laws herself, no less).
This is administration enjoys watching people in pain. They get off on it.
Having also been to Duluth for a couple of years one afternoon, I can safely say the only real entertainment I could have expected of this speech was for him to be divebombed by a sea gull thinking his hair was a giant woolly caterpillar. Or his limo getting stranded at the top of the drawbridge.
Yeah, nobody cares/likes her or DJT, or what he’s doing, enough to say “…um… Melania? That’s probably not a good choice.”
I would think at least a half dozen people must have seen it. I mean escorting the FLOTUS to the Airport probably takes 20 people (anybody have any figures on what it takes??)
Either they hate her or are to scared to say something.
Clearly the one hour in Texas was intended to “prove” that All The Kids Are Happy And Well-Cared-For. So naturally a visit to an actual detention center, with cages and kids sleeping on floors, or trying to in the high-90s heat, was ruled out.
And the jacket was just as clearly intended to troll all persons possessed of decency. Because that’s what trolls enjoy doing.

Melania’s entering her own little tailspin of doom. She’s depressed, stressed and angry and wants everyone to know.
I don’t suppose she did it deliberately to mock or distress the abused kids. In fact, I don’t suppose she really gave any thought whatsoever to their feelings, or even existence.
Not quite sure what you’re saying. Or is it sarcasm?
I would imagine no model gets to pick out what to wear. Though now of course she can.
Perhaps some staffer put this on her, and she had no idea. Perhaps she picked it out to send a message. Perhaps she doesn’t give a shit.
What surprises me is that nobody saw it and corrected it. Maybe they all hate her. Maybe the are afraid of her. Or maybe someone tried and she told them to fuck off.
He is being sarcastic. His point is that, as a model who is trained in the art of the image, she knew exactly what she was doing. She chose that jacket, or her husband. No one else.
If my theory (that she wore it out of resentment at being dragged away from her comfy couch) is correct, no doubt she was in a glaringly foul mood, discouraging anyone from trying to talk to her and insuring that anybody who did would get their head bitten off.
Yes. The jacket was trolling. And so far as I can tell from what CNN and MSNBC have said so far, it’s working—the newspeople are falling into the trap of talking about “the jacket.”
This gives the Trumpsters the handy message ‘there is a terrible crisis on our border and all that The Media can talk about is a jacket!!!1!!!’
What reporters and anchors and pundits should do is to avoid the word “jacket” entirely. “Melania Trump arrived in Texas with the words I REALLY DON’T CARE. DO U? on her back”—that formulation would let them discuss Melania’s choice to send that message, without giving the unscrupulous the gift of ‘all they do is talk about a jacket!!!’
