This pisses me really off - what they have said, repeatedly, is that there is no indication they got to the votes themselves - but that has little to do with the outcome of the election, as all the meddling was to enrage, etc certain voters.
“There is no serious person out there who would suggest somehow that you could even rig America’s elections. In part because they’re so decentralized, and the number of votes involved. There is no evidence that that has happened in the past or that there are instances in which that will happen this time.” -Pres. Barack Obama
You leftist need to step up your game. How can you stand by and allow Litteraly Hitler to destroy democracy? History will judge you by your inaction. C'mon do something!Trump’s previous statements on the subject have always included:
- It may have been Russia, maybe not, Putin said no, could be others.
- It was Obama’s fault.
- I won anyway in a huge landslide.
- There was no collusion.
Absolutely no difference in today’s version of the above. OK, maybe #1 took a little nudge towards reality.
But he added:
- Yay, intelligence services!
His previous statements in that regard were along the lines of: these guys screwed up on Iraq’s WMD, so what do they know.
No one has claimed that anything was rigged. The only person that uses that term is the moron in the oval office. And he’s full of shit when he uses it.
What point do you think you’re making? Nobody serious has argued that Russian activity determined the outcome of the election. Obama was speaking after Trump won. The point is that Russians attempted to influence the election.
He cannot resign. If he tries to resign, he will be killed by Putin. His family will be killed by Putin. He cannot resign.
We are clusterfucking like a mother fuck now! Woooo!
God, wouldn’t that be a pickle. Putin openly kills the Trump family, leaving the US to decide if we want to go to war because he killed Donald Fuckin’ Trump.
(I would vote “yes”… the man is President and all that… but I had to think about it for a few seconds. )
Of course not, but it’s still shocking that he’s that blatant about being a Kremlin stooge.
I didn’t stick around for the end of Trump’s gibberish. Were there any shouted questions? I hope somebody asked: “If you merely misspoke, saying “would” instead of “wouldn’t”…why would you accept Putin’s “incredible offer” to help with the investigation?”
Change thread title from “in the making” to “in progress.”
No war. We strike back by killing Kushner. That will show him!
But Trump is safe. Putin knows that if you want to hurt the opposing team, you don’t injure the person who kicks the ball into his own goal several times a game.
Just delete ‘in the making’.
I think you misspoke. I think you meant to say: “You know - its pretty GREAT when you can see the WINNING rising from him as he continues to spout AMAZING after AMAZING lie! Sad!”
Apparently all his national security officials met today to craft what Trump was supposed to say this afternoon. Among the key things was "You know when I said that I didn’t see why it would be Russia hacking the election? And then when I doubled down on it three times in response to reporters’ questions? Ha ha! What I meant was, I didn’t see why it wouldn’t be Russia! Yeah, that’s it. And when I was answering those reporters’ questions I was still under the impression that I had meant that first thing I said, which my people – and I have great people, by the way, the best people – now tell me that I never meant to say, because I forgot to say ‘not’. "
Saturday Nite Live wouldn’t have done this as a skit, because people would just say, this is way too stupid and unbelievable to be funny. But today Republicans accept this as “leadership”. Leadership by the greatest president of all time. The BEST president, if he does say so himself. Although a lot of the time he’s not really quite sure what he’s saying.
As for Vlad, the moron-in-chief doesn’t need to make him mad. He just needs to reveal himself as weak, stupid, and completely inept, and he did an outstanding job of demonstrating all three, while Vlad came across as a master of propaganda so completely in control that he was visibly bored by the whole thing (seriously, it was interesting watching his body language). The best description was in the UK’s Daily Mirror the next day, referring to Trump as “Putin’s Poodle”.
Here’s the thing to remember. In 1961 Kennedy and Khrushchev met for the first time in Vienna. Kennedy was about 1,424,982 times smarter than Trump, but the cunning Khrushchev assessed him as inexperienced and weak. Kennedy went out of that summit feeling it had gone very badly, as it indeed it had, though not nearly as comically badly as yesterday’s summit. Two months later, the Berlin wall went up, and remained up for more than 28 years. One year later, Khrushchev moved nuclear missiles into Cuba, plunging the world to the very brink of nuclear war.
Who knew double negatives could be so hard?
Will Wilkinson, former research fellow and managing editor at the libertarian Cato Institute, scratches his head regarding non-existent moderation in the GOP Senate caucus (James Fallows has said the same):
It’s crazy that there’s not a single GOP senator who wants to be a beloved world-historical hero who goes down in the annals of glory famous for bravery, integrity, and defense of freedom and democracy.
Circumstance has dropped a trillion dollars bill on the sidewalk in front of them, and no one will pick it up.
Most of these guys are literally millionaires. What’s the downside?
https://twitter.com/willwilkinson/status/1019318436000882688
I can understand McCain, as he has medical issues. But that’s about it. The words treason and traitor get tossed around a lot. But moral cowardice is also involved.
For the hell of it, I’ll quote a discussion of Plato’s Republic:
Finally, a person is just just in case all three parts of her soul are functioning as they should (441d12–e2; cf. 443c9–e2). Justice, then, requires the other virtues. So the unjust person fails to be moderate, or fails to be wise, or fails to be courageous.
Actually, the relation among the virtues seems tighter than that, for it seems that the unjust person necessarily fails to be wise, courageous, and temperate (cf. Cooper 1998).
Plato’s Ethics and Politics in The Republic (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy)
Also, you did a whole interview on Hannity last night where you never brought this up to clarify?
The thing is, is that that is still an incredibly weak statement: “Why wouldn’t it be Russia?” isn’t a ringing endorsement of his intelligence team telling he is actually **was **Russia. “Why wouldn’t it be Russia, or China, or some 400 lb guy in his mom’s basement?”
Well, I think the story here is that he hadn’t reviewed the tape to see where he ‘misspoke’.
It’s good to recall this period, when we hear Trump throwing around nonsense like “Relations with Russia are worse than they’ve ever been.”
Speaking of alternate history, did he also say that Queen Elizabeth reviewed her Honor Guard for the first time in 70 years? (Despite the fact that she’s only been queen for 65.) Any idea what he was babbling about?
