Someone of the guys got a lift in a pickup truck, which supposedly had a star of David on the cab.
Yeah. Armed guards at houses of worship is a ridiculous idea—unless you have a system of government desperately dependent on acquiring masses of money from the gun industry and those convinced by the gun industry that their self-respect requires the purchase of lots of guns.
So, there you go.
Thanks. I’m not in the habit of reading the sordid details of incidents like this.
You are very welcome.
Further on Trump’s TV habits; I had to look this up on his Twitter feed, because even for Orangekopf it sounded too crazy to be true, but sure enough:
Yes folks, hours after one of the worst anti-Jewish attacks in US history, The fucking President of the fucking United States feels it necessary to announce to the world that he disapproves of a pitching change in the World Series.
Jeezus Peezus.
You really think that clown is president? He’s just keeping the seat warm for whoever can rescue the country after the 2020 election.
Let it sink in: 11 Jews are dead in no small part because of a right-wing, Trump-boosted conspiracy theory that claimed George Soros was paying migrants to invade the country.
The deceased victims were murdered in cold blood because they were Jewish. But it could have been, and in the future may be, victims who are Latino, or victims who are Black, or victims who are Indian, or victims who are Muslim, or victims who are Chinese, or victims who are Korean. Not that this in any way whatsoever diminishes the pain and anguish sustained by the Jewish community, or suggests that such attacks on others would be worse. It’s only to point out that there’s a common thread, which is important - critical - to remember.
One of the most insidious aspects of Trump-era racism is that different bigots and hatemongers have different objects of hate. Not all people who hate Jews hate Muslims, just like all people who hate Muslims hate Jews. Not all people who hate Blacks hate immigrants like Latinos or Asians, just like not all people who hate immigrants hate Blacks. Just like not all people who hate all of these aforementioned groups hate the LGBT community, and vice versa. The point is, it’s easy for people like Bowers to slip past the radar: he doesn’t hate everyone, just certain types.
But all bigots and extremists have a common thread: they all share the bond of hatred. And they all encourage and embolden each other to say extreme things and commit extreme acts. Charlottesville was the canary in the coal mine, and it was a warning shot. Not everyone who was there hated the same people, but they all essentially had the same level of hatred for someone. When confronted and called out on their bigotry, they can say things like “Hey, I don’t hate everyone. I like black people -even have black friends. I just don’t care for immigrants coming in here and taking over our country -and the Jews who help them.” 11 people are dead, countless family members and friends are in mourning, and thousands upon thousands are wondering if they’re next.
The Trump era has encouraged people to say and do extreme things. Intolerant people of all kinds feel encouraged like they haven’t been since probably the 1960s to express hostile thoughts and commit hostile acts. Trump and the Republicans have encouraged this. They’ve stumped about these themes, tweeted about them, and run entire campaigns on them. They’ve stoked the flames of hatred. No, Trump didn’t tweet that people should be murdered, but his normalization of racism and prejudice gives aid and comfort to these people in ways that haven’t been seen in years.
But Trump and the Republicans aren’t going to change because they’ve been validated by millions of voters. The only ones who can make society decent again…is us. And it starts by not voting for them and rewarding them with political office.
Worse, he’s wrong on when/how to bring in relief pitching. If he’s going to be an insensitive (to put it mildly) prick, as a (presumably) red-blooded American, he could at least be less of an idiot about baseball.
He said this tonight on Fox:
"Once you start doing that, once you cancel – so you’re doing a rally and rallies are meant to be fun. Rallies are meant to be everything and I said, ‘Tone it down,’ and then you saw the group saying, ‘No, don’t tone it down, don’t tone it down.’ So we had a great rally in Illinois, for some great people and frankly, I think that’s probably the way it should be.
You should go about your life. You can’t let these people disrupt anymore than they already have, which is disgraceful; what he did is disgraceful. You can’t let it happen."
I’m absolutely sure that’s they way you think it should be. You wouldn’t want you and your adoring crowds to not have fun even though it was just a few hours after mass murder of your fellow citizens.
And “you can’t let these people disrupt anymore than they already have”? Yep, massacring people is the same as cancelling your scheduled hate fest.
The twerp let out a verbal diarrhea stream of 113 words (if my word processor counted correctly) and yet still didn’t say anything that made sense. Seriously, how is this jackass the president of the United States?
A bonobo could hold a rally and make as much sense as Trump. So why not? Let the next republican president be a pygmy chimpanzee. Bonobo 2020!
Well, they would already know that the shit flinging will go over well with the base.
Failing Donnie to repeal 14th Amendment by Executive Order
Of course this is a trick to stir up his minions so they’ll go out and vote. But I’ll bet he believes he can do it because he’s the president and the Constitution isn’t.
Yeah, but those are all shit-hole countries, like Canada and Mexico,
Go back and read this. Trump: It doesn’t matter.
If you don’t feel like following the link (to an earlier post of mine), here’s a salient quote:
This is who we have for a so-called president: a man (I use the term advisedly) to whom NOTHING MATTERS. Let THAT sink in. But don’t miss the really subtle part of this. He tells himself that nothing matters and therefore it doesn’t. And he doesn’t mean nothing matters to him, he means nothing matters PERIOD. This absolves him of any responsibility to other people, and is likely the basis for why he never apologizes.
If he were more thoughtful, I’d say he was a nihilist, but he’s really just a lazy, ignorant, uneducated narcissist. IOW a grown (in years) person stuck at the toddler stage.
This is no more real than his pretend 10% middle class tax cut. He will forget this in, roughly, one week.
Also, would this affect both Ted Cruz and Nikki Haley’s ability to run for president? Aren’t they both citizens by birthright?
The real story here is that the president of the United States, a week before the election, wants to defy the Constitution while his party, which is filled with supposed strict Constitutionalists who believe in firm adherence to said Constitution, cheer him on. So, racism > Constitution.
My first question for Sarah Huckabee Sanders at her next briefing would be: which one of the presidents advisers told him he could amend the constitution by executive order? Just to watch her squirm.
That is a great idea!
