First: Senate Republicans pushed back on Ratcliffe last year, and I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t feel the same this year. What’s Trump going to do – back their primary opponent? We’re deep into primary season – it’s a little late for that.
And apparently, if Ratcliffe is not approved then Grennell just stays in the job for another 7 months; and Trump prefers “Acting” cabinet heads. So Trump may not care whether Ratcliffe is approved or not.
