I saw this, too, and despaired. I think all SCOTUS needs to do to make this the law of the land is decline to take up any appeal. The whole thing happened with barely a whisper.

More proof that we/the constitution relied way too much on convention and tradition without actual rules or laws. I suppose these were trump appointees or republicans in general who made this ruling? So I guess now Congress’ hands are tied forever. They’re supposed to be a check on the executive but now they can’t be.

The majority was appointed by Bush I and Bush II; the dissent by Clinton. At least they weren’t Trump judges, so they’re probably marginally qualified, albeit conservative.

Breaking: A person diagnosed with coronavirus in King County in Washington state has died

In a statement released Saturday, the Washington State Department of Health and Seattle and King County health officials confirmed the death and said they would offer more details at a 1 p.m. news conference, local time. They will discuss the death and new confirmed cases in the county.

“It is a sad day in our state as we learn that a Washingtonian has died from COVID-19,” Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to his family and friends. We will continue to work toward a day where no one dies from this virus.”

An appeals court dismissed a lawsuit brought by the House Judiciary Committee against Don McGahn, ruling that Congress cannot sue to enforce its subpoenas.

Barring a SCOTUS rescue or a constitutional amendment, the concept of legislative oversight is dead. Welcome to the dictatorship; we can only hope it’s a benevolent one.

Doesn’t this ruling invalidate one of the Pubbies’ major objections to the House moving forward with the obstruction of Congress charge on the impeachment?

Very possibly. But I’m guessing that Trump was referring to supplies that will be exclusively for the use of Trump and those around him.

For example, the CDC test kits are notoriously flawed. But South Korea has a large number of effective, working test kits. Trump has probably been informed that plenty of these Korean kits will be available to test anyone who works in the White House, so as to ensure that no infected person comes near him.

Of course they’d have to keep such acquisition quiet, as many Americans would wonder why the White House gets the protection of frequent testing, but no one else does.

Trump has probably been informed that plenty of these Korean kits will be available to test anyone who works in the White House, so as to ensure that no infected person comes near him.

But he said just the other day that an old friend of his came up to him and hugged and kissed him, and then told him he’s coughing and has a fever.

I really do wonder whether the Secret Service lets people just come up to the idiot and hug and kiss him. Unless they’re Judas, I guess.
